MY VIEW: CHAMPIONSHIP NEW COMERS PETERBOROUGH TONIGHT LOOKED

Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:46 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

CHAMPIONSHIP NEW COMERS PETERBOROUGH TONIGHT LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD BEATEN CARDIFF, AFTER CARDIFF LOOKED LIKE THEY NEVER EVEN TURNED UP IN THE SECOND=HALF THEN BANG CAME BACK IN THE LAST MINUTES TO SECURE A POINT. :bluebird: :bluebird:

HOW WE GOT A POINT I WILL NEVER KNOW, BUT I WILL TAKE THAT :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff were virtually non existent upfront.

It took Cardiff 79mins to finally come to life.

Over all this was like a totally different game than that v Blackpool.

6pts from 9pts in first three games.

Mick named an unchanged team.

it’s been 9 years since Cardiff last visited Posh in the League.

680 Cardiff fans travelled :bluebird:

First-half: Cardiff & Posh cancelled each other out, not a great half, even stevens, over all quite boring.
12 free kicks were given away by Cardiff. Zero saves by either keeper sums it up.
Not one shot on target by either side.

Second-half: Dire, awful second half by Cardiff, looked like they had not even bothered to turn up, until the 79th min.

PETERBOROUGH 2 CARDIFF CITY 2 :bluebird: :bluebird:
H-T 0-0

Cardiff City: Phillips; Morrison, Flint, Nelson; Ng, Pack, Ralls, Bagan; Bacuna, Collins, Giles.

Subs: Smithies, Sang, Wintle, Vaulks, Harris, Moore, Murphy.
Crowd 8,534
Away Support 680

Not a great half, plenty of fouls, dire over all.

Pack and Flint were booked for a foul, small tussle, but replay shows, inoccent.

12 free kicks were given away by Cardiff.

H-T 0-0

GOAL! Peterborough 1-0 Cardiff City (Burrows 49)
Emphatic finish from Burrows.

Some real lax defending from City there. Harrison Burrows is allowed to have a one-two with Clarke-Harris in the box and Burrows turns his defender before lashing into the roof of the net from close range.

GOAL! Peterborough 2-0 Cardiff City (Dembele 51)
And another! Breathless breakaway goal from Posh.

Jonson Clarke-Harris is slid in down the middle but has a lot to do still. He runs towards the Cardiff box before cutely playing it into the path of Dembele, who takes a touch before sliding and nudging it past the onrushing Phillips.

63rd min 62mins
Kieffer Moore on for Ng.

77th min:
Colwill on for Collins

Harris on for Bacuna

City came to life with about 10mins to go.

GOAL! Peterborough 2-1 Cardiff City (Flint 83) :bluebird: :bluebird:
Flint heads home!

Pack whips in a ball from the touchline and Flint rises highest and buries his chance!

GOAL! Peterborough 2-2 Cardiff City (Flint 90)
GOOOOOOOOOOAL! FLINT! SCENES! :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

MY MAN OF THE MATCH RYAN GILES / ADEN FLINT :thumbright: :bluebird:

Stole a point and they didn't give up although nothing to get excited about 1st half 2nd half last 10 mins much better as I thought the game was dead at 2-0 tbh :bluescarf:

This stolen point could be vital come end season... :D

Hard to watch but an away point will have to do.

Can’t see anything much in Collins except hard work.

Why can’t we string more than 3 or 4 passes together and build a pattern.

Harris shows much better guile and would prefer to see him given a chance next game.

Everything we did right at Blackpool, we did wrong tonight.

We didn't deserve the point but will definitely take it.

Thanks to Aden Flint for what could be two crucial goals :ayatollah:

Pack was also excellent by Flint gets my MOTM.

All things considered, to come away with a point is a good result.

Need to be much better against Millwall.

I think most of the blame for the performance today is with Mick. Quite frankly apart from his work rate James Collins offers little else to our game, and considering Kieffer Moore who’s one of the best strikers in the league is sitting on the bench just makes it even more baffling. Our tactical shape needs to change also, and when he did make that change, which I praise him for, we looked a much better team with an extra man in the attacking areas. Overall I think it’s clear that our full backs are not quite good enough.

Annis I assume it was just a copy and paste from the previous game, but surely you don’t think Ryan Giles was MOTM today?

Pack produced two outstanding crosses for the two goals and was probably our best player. Picked up a ridiculous booking because the ref was useless.

But yeah overall we were poor except from the last ten minutes.

Spot on about the ref, how Peterborough didn’t get more bookings is beyond. Questionable if they should have still had 11 on the pitch.

BLUEBIRD IN JACKLAND

Totally agree with mick should have changed it before kick off and left it very late to change harris or murphy needed to replace whoever to bring on fresh legs and moore imo should have at the very least be on for 2nd half collins look lost tonight

I did the first half, but def not the second

James Collins is not for us, work rate great but not right as a striker now for Championship level.

I agree with this summary. The front three were poor tonight and we left late to change it and got away with it. Credit the battling attitude though. Excellent. As for full backs I also totally agree. Bagan needs a break already. He's a great prospect but he's not ready for starting every game at the moment. His crossing and positional sense were very poor tonight.
We need changes for Saturday and freshening up.

Completely lacklustre for 75 minutes and two horrendous pieces of defending cost us 2 goals

MM took too long to make his substitutions but a barnstorming last 15 minutes gave us a point which we just about deserved

The ref was absolute dog shite!!

Collins getting some negative vibes but for me he was decent at blackpool he should have been dropped before kick off tonight though. Mick made right subs but very late and he got the point. Why do we seem to always have manager who take ages to makes subs

If you can't win the game make sure you don't lose and the team showed great resilience in coming back tonight.

Don't like those pink shirts though.

Just came out of A&E after over celebrating the equalizer.

I thought I had a broke left leg when the adrenaline died down. what I did know what I had scrapped half the skin off my right leg side calf. My nephew came out and took me to the hospital where I was told I had pulled ligaments in my left leg. The scrap on my right leg was deep enough to warrant some serious bandaging. at the moment though I'm in bloody agony.
