Keiffers gonna go

Mon Aug 16, 2021 10:52 am

I reckon one of the teams fearful of relegation from the Prem will take a punt. Fee of around £5 million conditional upon them staying up. Fee immaterial mind as it wont be used to strengthen the team.

Can't see it happening.

There's been no genuine interest in him this summer.

The majority of the time, if a players was possibly to leave then the signs would be there by now. That isn't the case.

He scored 20 league goals last season but that's the first time he's got that many. He scored 10 the season before and 17 the season before that.

There have been clubs in the Premier League who have taken a chance on Championship strikers after one season of scoring 20+ and it hasn't worked out.

Brighton, for example, would have expected Neal Maupay to have done much better than he has.

Teams will want to see if he can score 20+ goals again this season.

The other fact is he's 29. For a striker that is physical, he won't be a long term signing for anyone. The risk would outweigh the reward for those clubs in signing him - one bad injury and he'll probably find it difficult to get back to his current level.

Finally, which of the teams battling to stay up would he join?

Burnley - Don't need him, they have Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes

Norwich - They have Teemu Pukki and Moore doesn't fit their style of play

Brighton - They have Danny Welbeck, Neal Maupay and Andi Zeqiri. Doesn't fit their style of play

Palace - They've got Christian Benteke, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wilfried Zaha

Southampton - They've just replaced Danny Ings with Adam Armstrong and they already have Che Adams

Brentford - They have Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and Marcus Forss

Newcastle - They have Callum Wilson and Joelinton

Aston Villa - They have Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins

Watford - They've signed two strikers this summer and they both scored on Saturday. Emmanuel Dennis and Cucho Hernandez. Also not suited to their style of play

Wolves - They have Raul Jimenez and Fabio Silva. Not suited to their style of play

There is no room for Moore at any of the teams who will be amongst those who could be fighting relegation.

Burnley was the only real obvious place but the talk from their fans and club is they don't expect to spend money. A striker would be way down on their list anyway as they have Wood, Barnes, Rodriguez and Vydra.

No way he goes for a penny under £10m

Kieffer is better off staying and cracking in 20+ goals again and seeing where we end up and who is interested next summer

I'm 50/50 on whether there's an agenda to sell him, but I do find it strange the club seem to be wrapping him up in cotton wool.

That’s right 62er, plus he played so many games last year due to no like for like replacement. Now we’ve got one we can manage our strikers far better.

Agenda to sell him?

If Moore goes in this transfer window we will sign Kyle Hudlin from Solihull Moors as a replacement, not some hugely expensive player. Maybe the club would also sign a winger/forward.

If he does go this transfer window I would estimate it would be 10 million plus add-ons.

If he doesn't go in this transfer window AND continues to score and is on or reaching double figures by January you can imagine a premier league side paying more for him as they look to try and stay in the division. If, for example, Burnley are in and around the relegation zone, they would pay 15 million or more for Moore at that stage.

My feeling is he is likely to stay with us until January. I would guess that most premier league sides would see Moore as a back-up or plan B striker, rather than a starting one (wrongly in my opinion), but that's the Premier League for you. It would be a different story for teams fighting against relegating in January though.

have you got a replacement for Hudlin lined up in January should he bang a few in for us and attract offers... ?

If Kieffer was still getting over the last of his Covid he would be at home making sure he was getting match fit - not travelling on a coach up to Peterborough to sit on the bench

Can we definately say the club is not actively looking to find a buyer for their biggest asset?

I for one say they are and dont want him Injured.

We can say anything we like can’t we? Doesn’t mean there is any proof.

Neil, he's 50/50 so effectively sitting on the fence

That's not an opinion, it's a guesstimate... ;)

Personally, I think he will stay. If he doesn't that will send out a signal that will reverberate around this club (never mind Forum) forvyears to come

Good post, my only fear is Burnley might take a punt, I think he is better than theirs and just what they need, but then again I don't think they would make a fair offer of £10Mill plus, so over all I'm with you he won't leave!

I don't see this as an issue, I just think he's still knackered after the Euro's, then catching covid and we have a half decent replacement, although the quicker we get him back the better!
