RYAN Giles

Really impressed by him so far. Hope he cements his place and becomes the missing link in midfield we need. :bluescarf:

Brilliant.

His passing ability is phenomenal.

Moore, Morrison and Flint will have a field day from set pieces as the season goes on.

I said on here after the Newport friendly he had already put more dangerous crosses in the box than all of our wingers combined last season.

His ball for Moore's goal yesterday was sublime. Get another on the right like him. Bacuna is still not the answer and Murphy is too inconsistent.

Agree another winger and we will be ok

Fans hold the opinion rightly or wrongly that we have no creativity. I have never understood why a good winger and/or full back who puts in pinpoint crosses for forwards to score are not considered 'creative?'

Based on the evidence so far Giles is a very creative player IMO.

Totally agree that Giles looks brilliant and his ball into Moore was superb, but I am one of those who thinks that whilst we have loads of workers in midfield we do need more creativity.

First reason - if he gets injured, who pulls the strings then?
Second - other managers/coaches naturally check teams out before they play them and it won't take long before he is identified as our "Mr. Creative" and marked accordingly.
Third - It's a long season to have virtually all of our creativity depending so heavily on one young guy.

Does anyone know what our seasonal assist record is?

I expect Giles to break it and for Moore to have another 20 goal season and wouldn't be surprised to see a 10 goal season from Morrison/Flint if the crosses continue to be this good.

He's a brilliant player and you're spot on he will be heavily marked from now on, but that should leave more space for the rest, we are much more of a threat now and if they stick two on Giles and two on Moore, Tomlin and whoever should have a field day.

Also they can't mark him taking a corner or free kick into the box

Mick will expect Giles to receive attention and will be planning for how to take advantage of this as we speak!

Absolutely right that teams heavily marking him will create space for others and Tomlin would have a field day if he was fit enough to be in the team. But if he isn't, who else is going to really make use of the space as none of our current regular midfielders are known for their passing ability.

Hopefully, you're right and Mick will be planning on how to take advantage, maybe with our wing backs running into the space.
