The Opposition's Manager - Darren Ferguson

Darren Ferguson is currently in his third spell as the manager of Peterborough United.

His first was between 2007 and 2009. He guided the team to two successive promotions in this time, taking the team from League Two to the Championship.

In 2011, he returned to Peterborough and guided them to promotion from League One once again. He kept them in the Championship for two seasons, before being relegated in 2014. He left again in 2015.

Once again, Ferguson returned to Peterborough in 2019. They looked likely to make the play-offs in 2020 but this didn't happen due to the season being curtailed by Covid-19 and the team not being in the top six at that time. However, in 2021 he successfully guided them back to the Championship for a third time.

In between his spells at Peterborough, he also was manager at both Preston and Doncaster.

As a player, he was brought through the Manchester United academy and went on to play over 300 games for Wrexham.

He is the son of legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Jonson Clarke-Harris has been widely expected to leave the Posh this summer, with a number of Championship clubs said to be queuing up to sign him. However, he remains with them which is a huge bonus for Peterborough.

Clarke-Harris scored 31 goals in League One last season for Peterborough and 13 the season before for Bristol Rovers.

Sammie Szmodics and Siriki Dembele will also be a threat. They scored 15 and 11 goals respectively in League One last season for them.

We last played Peterborough United in March 2013, when they beat us 2-1 at their stadium in the Championship.

Never really do well at the Posh. Even going back to 1976 I remember us drawing 0-0.

Can't remember last time we won at London Rd.

On the basis we have to win sometime, I'm going for this week. 0-2 again.....

And you know his exact situation how...?

An unfit footballer is of no practical use to his team so why would he have travelled to Blackpool when he was better off getting better? :?

Isaac Vassell has been out for genuine reasons, so give the guy a break and try supporting his rehabilitation... ;)

I really hate Peterborough. Our record against them is awful and it's a tw*t of a drive. Been 3 times, first time it got called off when we were about half hour from the ground.

Second time we were 4-0 up at half time and drew 4-4 and the third time we lost 4-3 in the last minute.

I also remember them ending our winning streak at home under Malky it was a record of about 10 games I think, they rocked up bottom of the league and beat us 2-1.

I also can't stand that clown Adrian Durham on talksport. We only took 7 points off the bottom 3 teams last season and I fully expect Peterborough to be down there this season.

These are the games we have to win if we are serious about challenging for promotion.

What's the latest team news?

There are seemingly no new injury scares following the win up at Blackpool on Saturday. :bluebird: :bluebird:

Will Vaulks and Marley Watkins were brought in to strengthen the City bench at the weekend with players getting fitter and fitter with each passing week.

Kieffer Moore came on to score his first goal of the campaign up at Bloomfield Road, too, so he could be in line for his first league start against Peterborough, although Mick McCarthy did lavish praise on James Collins' performance against the Seasiders.

Lee Tomlin and Isaak Davies are all still absent through injury at the minute. They are the only players of any concern this weekend.

Isaac Vassell getting himself fit and played in under 23 game yesterday.

As for Posh, there are injury question marks hanging over two key players in Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Marriott, both of whom manager Darren Ferguson said were "nowhere near" fully fit in the win over Derby at the weekend.

Jack Taylor will likely miss the clash due to a hamstring injury, while Sammie Szmodics was left out of the squad for the Derby game as he had become a father for the first just days earlier. It is unknown whether he will return in time.

Match facts:

Peterborough and Cardiff last faced in the 2012-13 Championship season, with Posh winning 2-1 in both meetings that campaign.

The three previous Championship meetings between Peterborough and Cardiff at the Weston Homes Stadium have seen 18 goals scored at an average of six per game: 4-4 in 2009-10, 4-3 to Posh in 2011-12 and 2-1 to Posh in 2012-13.

Each of Peterborough’s last four Championship games on a Tuesday have ended level, with the last two ending goalless – although this is their first such fixture since April 2013.

Cardiff have only lost one of their last 10 league games on a Tuesday, winning on seven occasions in this run (D2).

Cardiff boss Mick McCarthy’s three previous away league matches as a manager against Peterborough have all ended goalless – two games with Millwall (1992-93 and 1993-94) and one with Ipswich Town (2012-13).

You are both right. The away game- 0-0 - was Easter Monday I think - and the home game 5-2 was either Boxing Day or the following day. Great season that with fantastic crowds at home to Hereford in particular and away at Palace and Bury
