Championship transfers to date:

Taken from Wiki And I'm not creating an agenda here so will use the same criteria for CCFC to keep things unbiased and fair.

It's interesting that all bar one of the permanent moves have been undisclosed with only Fulham disclosing the £12.5M. It is believed that Surridge cost Stoke £5.5m, but it is classed as undisclosed.

At this point I would say that McGuinness for us is also classed as undisclosed, but I am not convinced we signed him on a free after his release from Arsenal.

There have been 159 transfers so far. 39 undisclosed, 96 free transfers and 24 loan deals, although the latter will surely increase close to deadline day.

We have signed 8 players, but that includes the likes of Luthra, Connolly and Semenyo. Also Watkins 1 month deal. We therefore have 4 possibly 5 players capable of getting to the 1st team squad from those we have signed.

12 teams have brought in the same number or more players than us if you include Semenyo, Luthra and Connolly. Take them out and 9 clubs have brought in the same or FEWER.

If undisclosed means money has changed hands, then 16 clubs have spent money to varying degrees. This includes us apparantly paying an undisclosed sum for McGuinness.

Blackburn ( with £15m burning a hole in their pocket from the sale of Armstrong to Soton) have yet to trade and neither have Sheff Utd.

Of the rest, Barnsley, Bristol City, Derby and Luton have yet to utilise the loan market and neither have Swansea, Fulham, Peterborough or Middlesbrough.

Birmingham have been most active in the loan market with 5 loans, followed by Hull 4 loans.

QPR, Swansea, Middlesborough, Huddersfield, Coventry, Birmingham and Peterborough have all brought in at least 10 players with Swansea leading the way with 18 (?). QPR have brought in 11.

Apart from those teams yet to trade, Reading have bought in the least with 1, Bournemouth and Fulham have snapped up 2, and Bristol City 3.

Blackpool, Coventry, Derby, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough have brought in the most permanent signings with Derby and Hudds leading the way with 7.

What can we make of that?? It's all guess work because numbers mean nothing. It's about the quality. Readings 1 loan deal may be better than Coventrys 10 deals.

The teams that came down haven't felt the need to strengthen wildly and have kept most of their premiership players.

Also, it will be interesting to see exactly what 'Undisclosed' means. Are we talking millions, hundreds of thousands or tens of thousands.

Bottom line, are our 5 1st team deals good enough or better than our rivals. I think other teams have bought some from higher leagues inc the Premiership which will be a telling difference.

Problem we have for comparing sighnings is one man's donkey is another man's thoroughbred ... so our 5 players whilst not the best on paper put them in team and could make difference between finishing mid table or top 6.... what is worrying is the relegated
teams keeping their premiership
side as I've said before its getting
a trend started couple of yrs ago! last season for 1st time 2 relegated teams went straight back up because they kept their squad
together can see same this season
result only 3 places likely to
be available in top 6 so be hard for lots of clubs yo break into the top 6 ...... undisclosed does mean a fee of some value .

dont think chucking under 23 signings into the mix is reasonable tbh....

Me neither, but if they're included for us I'm guessing wiki will have included u23s for all clubs.

Swanseas 18 signings I'm thinking are Mainly from their academy.

I always take the view that I'm not too bothered by what other clubs are doing in the transfer market.

We can have no influence over what they do so it is pointless worrying over it. I keep my concern or happiness to what we are doing.

I believe taking all thing into consideration including Profit and Sustainability rules we have done well in the transfer market this summer.

However, keeping Kieffer Moore is very important. If he leaves then it would be a huge blow.

Bottom line is that we won't know who is the better signings until the season goes on.

For example, a lot of people thought we'd win the league in 2010/11 when we had Bellamy, Bothroyd, Chopra, Whittingham, Burke, Marshall etc.

We should have won the league with that team! The quality and attacking capability we had in that team was superb and great to watch - but when we lost a game, it inevitably turned into a run of 4:6 games which lost all momentum.

I do think had that team gone up, the style of football would arguably have given us the best chance of staying up we’ve had.
