A forum for all things Cardiff City

A shocking low offer was made for Cardiff City's Ciaron Brown by Neil Warnocks Boro and was laughed of by Mick McCarthy.
Barnsley have now shown interest in Brown and enquired about him, but no offer has been put forward yet.
City in my opinion seem to be pushing Brown out in the shop window as they are looking to get money in, but not for new players.
This summer City received No offers for any players at all, other than a very cheeky low offer for Brown.
The other player that might leave is Mark Harris but out on loan.

I think he’ll be gone soon. Hopefully we can get Bennett back in instead of him providing he first break the edge cap at the club.

For me a player the quality of Joe Bennett is missing badly in my opinion.
I am hearing Bennett feels he could be ready to play by September.

I must have missed something with Brown I don’t see him anywhere near as good as Bennett was.

Me neither. That’s why, if it did happen, it would be brilliant business imo.

I’m speaking about him as a possible replacement for Brown.

I agree, id be happy selling brown and bringing bennet back in. As it stands, Giles would drop back as LWB if Bagan gets injured. We need Giles further up the pitch.

Good on the ball I admit but Bennett is a hopeless defender. I for one dont want hm back purely for this reason
Quite frankly I am amazed that others on here cant see it.

To say “Bennett done ok” is an understatement of epic and biblical proportion in my opinion. A player who is both physical in the challenge and oozes both composure and execution on the ball would probably be a fairer reflection of his career at Cardiff. With his attacking attributes, he’d be a great addition to the modern day attacking LWB position to provide width further up the pitch and it’s worth remembering that defensively, he can’t be in two places at once.
The reason people are talking about him is that he currently doesn’t have a club and is subsequently free (barring wages and signing on fee), is a top end Championship operator and already has an affiliation with the Bluebirds and understanding of the team philosophy and tactics.
I challenge you to name a better LB to don a Cardiff City shirt in the last 35 years, whilst factoring in that opposition wingers during Bennett’s tenure have all been from the top 2 tiers of the English football system. A response is eagerly anticipated.

He obviously wants to leave so if an acceptable bid comes in, we should just let him go.
Appears his agent is working overtime to try and get him a move.
Not so sure about re-signed Bennett. He still has over a month before he'll be fit enough to play and then he'd have to build up his match fitness for a couple of weeks with the Under 23s. There's also no guarantee he'll be the same player after an injury like he had.
He didn't get a new contract because he had unrealistic expectations on wages. He may well have changed his wage demands, probably because no other club is interested in him, but some people at the club won't forget that he wouldn't sign a contract on less money - despite the fact he was lucky to be offered a new contract when carrying a significant injury.
Besides, when Bennett was playing for us, all he got was criticism on this forum and people were constantly saying that he wasn't good enough.
Now everyone seems to be obsessed with him signing for us again

That’s a fair point on the wages.
I can’t see Bennett returning and always said people wouldn’t realise how good he was until he departed.
As for Brown, I’d have concerns about a lack of cover at CB given that Bamba has already departed and we play with 3. He’s definitely not a Championship standard LWB.

Brown to go Bennett in ,is a no brainer, at this level Bennett is very good ,would be bonus if he stayed.

Annis I like Bagan but he's too young/inexperienced to be our no.1 choice at LB. Getting bennet back would be a huge boost to our squad.

Two points here:
1. The lad Bagan shows good promise and will benefit from regular 1st team football (at last we have some youngsters coming through) I think we should all get behind the lad and support his progress
2. if we get a reasonable offer for Browne I would say take it and then we need to replace with another Centre-back not a left-back. As good a left back as Bennett was for us, we have taken a decision to not renew his contract I would like to think that it is made on good footballing reasons.
