Rotherham want Mark Harris on loan

Mark Harris attracting interest

Cardiff City boss Mick McCarthy has revealed there is loan interest in young striker Mark Harris.

After breaking into the first-team fold last season the forward will be looking to kick on this term, but with a number of attackers at McCarthy's disposal he'll have some job on his hands.

Kieffer Moore, James Collins, Marley Watkins and Isaac Vassell are also on the books.

MICK McCARTHY:

Asked at his pre-Blackpool press conference if there has been any interest in his young players this summer, McCarthy replied: "Isaak Davies, Rubin Colwill won’t be going anywhere. Mark Harris, there’s quite a bit of interest in him but, equally, he is playing in my team and in my squad, I don’t see that.

"Sam Bowen, we have got five or six midfield players but I’ve been delighted with him.

"It’s a brilliant learning curve.

"So, to answer your question, I don’t know. They are the reasons why probably not. But there might be someone that goes out on loan if we’ve got adequate cover everywhere else.

"Kieron Evans is another one who has been excellent for the under-23s."

I believe Harris should be sold. To many opportunities to make an impression not taken. Goal scoring record poor. Poor loans at Wrexham and Newport.

He is also in that age category of not being a youngster anymore. At his age, he should be a permanent fixture in a team and scoring goals regularly. He isn't.

i dont think we can afford to keep getting rid mate.... someone said last night that the problem with Tomlin and Vassell is the fact Mick includes them as part of his squad..... personally i think Mick knows he is not going to get much out of them...but the point about the squad list looking healthier than it really is was spot on.... all in all we used 30 players in league games last year....our current squad is 1 less on 29... 3 keepers..8 boys who were under 23s last season { 9 of you include Brown } 3 new players who have not played at this level.. along with the 2 injured and earlier mentioned... for this to all work out you need all the luck in the world...

I have to be fair here, I said while Brown wasn't good enough we should keep him purely for numbers, and the same applies to Harris.

If we knew we could bring in replacements then both should be sold. For now, both should stay.

100% agree.
Unless they’re being replaced they should be kept.

my opinion he hasnt shown enough as of yet but has shown more than most of the others ..was deemed good enough to be on our bench last week and brought on ahead of other youngsters... maybe its them that should be loaned out

He should have started v Barnsley instead of Bacuna.
I’d be disappointed to see a young local player go.

Going out on loan to say a league one club would do him a world of good. Unfortunately we have no depth at all up front its Moore and Collins and that's it. If one gets injured we are in trouble that's why we have to hang on to Harris even if it's a bit dubious if he is actually a forward. It does help that MM will rarely countenance two forwards being on the pitch at the same time.
By way contrast Sheffield United up front can chose from Rhian Breweter £23 million Oli McBurnie about £15 million Oliver Burke who West Brom once paid £15 million for David McGoldrick and Billy Sharp too. Wonderfully they all seem a bit crap at scoring at the moment. But if Moore and Collins got injured at the same time we would be up shot creek without a paddle.
