Osei-Tutu

Wed Aug 11, 2021 9:35 am

Just seen he's gone on a season long loan to Forest. He had real bad luck with injury last season. I think it was a bad hamstring injury. He came back too early and did the same hamstring again. From what I saw the lad had some real quality about him. A little bit raw but electric pace. Disappointed that we didn't go for hom again...although perhaps we did and he chose Forest. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not convinced by either Sang or Ng as wingback and feel that Osei-Tutu would have been a better option.
Equally feel that Bennett is better option at left wingback than the two you lads. Pity that something couldn't have been worked out...we've lost a good servant and quality player.

We had him for a year and got barely any games out of him.

Why we would go back?

If it rained every day in May in 2020 it doesn't mean it's going to rain every day in May in 2021. Players have injury spells. The lad was very unlucky last season. It doesn't mean that the same will happen this season. I think he looked a quality player....and that's why, personally, I'd have gone back in for him.

Have to say I liked what I saw of him and (hate tom say it) Forest have got themselves a good one...

When we have players who get injured normally the committee get loads of shit for it. Now we are saying we should have had him back.

He had a hamstring injury twice. Same as Vassell.

Thought he looked good but bit unreliable and inconsistent and I though NG was more reliable.

And with NG we are increasing the value of our player

I liked Ng when we first got him, but he has slowly dropped to the standard of this around him. Why is that.

He was injured I accept, by when he came back we played him on the left and he lost some of that early class he showed.

He needs to play on the right, he will try tackle everyone and has a lot of energy, fingers crossed a few more games and he will get back to his best!

His natural position is right back and I'm sure that's where Arsenal want him to play.

As good as he is, I think Ng is a more accomplished player. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that Ng is one of our best players and can't be left out when fit.

I'm certain that Arsenal wouldn't want him to be on the bench or playing out of position.

But, if he stays fit, a very good signing for Forest. Building a decent team there.

I have to agree with the opening poster, I liked tutu was gutted when he got injured shame we couldn’t have him here again. NG is a very average player I think but he is a MM player so I’m expecting more of his type to come.

I bloody hope there’s more of the type of NG to come.

Very average?

Did you watch him?

At the start I thought we signed a gem but over the course of time I feel he’s not as good. Hopefully he can perform like he did in the early days on a more regular basis.

He was played out of position but still performed well and was regularly our best player.

He has a big upside.

Quite frankly this is a rubbish comparison. You can't compare weather to players getting injured. The fact of the matter is we already have two good players who can play in that position and Osei-Tutu is not obviously better than them. We can't afford three choices and the first two are already here. In addition he was frequently injured for us and also missed lots of games for the German club he was on loan to too. Thought he did well for us whilst on loan and not injured which was not much of the time but he wasn't that good that we were desperate to get him back.

Aw...that's a shame. I thought it was a good comparison, very simple and virtually idiot proof. The point being that if a player has a lot of injuries one season it doesn't mean that he will have a lot of injuries every season. You also say that Osei-Tutu is obviously not better than Sang and Ng. I would say it's not obvious at all...in fact I would say he is a class above our two lads. Far more athletic and with frightening pace...something we lack on our team.

I like Ng but he's a right back, not a right wing back. And he has had a pretty poor pre-season.

Tom Sang is MUCH better in the wing back position. He has more composure on the ball, a bit quicker and his crossing is excellent.

If we want to evolve our playing style if play Ng on the right of a back three and Sang as wing back. Or play Sang in midfield, his more natural position.

Osei-tutu would have been good to have .. right back or wing back. He and we were just unlucky.

Tomlin, Vassell.

That's so blinkered. Just because you name 2 players with a history of injuries it in no way means the Osei-Tutu will be the same. There are loads of players all over the world who have missed a season with a serious injury and have made a full recovery to play season after season. All players are an injury risk. But there we are...some people are more optimistic than others
