Mick McCarthy: “ By hook or by crook “

Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:17 pm

Cardiff manager Mick McCarthy said:

"It was important we won the game. When I was at Barnsley in the Fourth Division I used to love playing against First and Second Division teams - nothing to lose, everything to gain.

"You could see that, they played well and had a great start but all we can do is win the game.

"We're in the next round. By hook or by crook, you've got to get through."

Mick is spot on there.

Teams in League One and League Two always raise their game when they play us or anyone else in the top two tiers - it's how Bradford got to the Carabao Cup Final.

Similar to when we play Premier League teams in competitive games.

For us, it doesn't matter how we did it as long as we got the job done.

Quite a few Championship sides had strong teams out tonight and went out to lower league teams.

Very pleased that it seems Mick is taking the cup competitions seriously. For too long, we've had managers with no interest in them.

Our cup runs in 2011/12 and 2007/08 were brilliant :thumbright:

Broke my arm at Wembley in 2012 celebrating Ben Turner's equaliser in extra time
