Just seen the replay of Sutton Uniteds goal, Davies was left well behind on the wing, we’re going to struggle if we don’t get a quality left back in, can’t rely on young Bagan all season, Mick needs to sign Bennet while he’s still available

Spot on Annis .we looked the same against Barnsley. We definitely need a solid left back

Against Barnsley the LB was in the centre circle when they played the ball into acres of space. Keeper should have saved it, soft goal

Agree that we need a solid LB but you have to question where Nelson was if he’s the LHS centre back who’s supposed to cover Bagan when he goes forward.

That's spot on.
Bagan and Ng are wing backs. Therefore they are supposed to play further up the pitch.
When they go forward, it's done to the three centre backs to cover them.
Bagan getting a lot of criticism, but a lot of it is down to Nelson not doing his job properly.
On the other side, McGuinness was very good at stepping in when Ng went forward.

Spot on I totally agree
I hadn't read this when I replied with similar comments on the Murphy thread!
About Murphy;
He needs a good partner who will sometimes overlap and take a fair share of the defensive work, he was brilliant last year with Bennett when Mick first arrived and part of the reason we won so many games. Without Bennett I'm not sure we will get the best of him, and teams will attack and score down our left hand side as they did on Saturday!
We need a solid leftback/wingback!

It worked when Bennett was left wingback, teams weren't attacking and scoring regularly down our left hand side then?
You watch teams have identified it as our weakest link, and attack mostly down our left hand side.

Totally agree. I'm a big fan of Bennett. He's been an excellent player and excellent servant for us. I'm sure something could be worked out financially.

I agree with all the comments about Bennett, I hope something can be sorted but doubt it.
Trouble is, even if we do re-sign Bennett he's not going to be match fit until around October. That's a good few games and we may have to go for someone else who can play straightaway.

Same old story defence to slow to react? 5 players couldn't prevent their only player in area getting to ball first to score ...

People said the same about a young Chris Gunter.
Bagan would have learned from that.
As for Tom Davies he's 17 for fucks sake

Totally agree.
We must accept that all youngsters will make mistakes.

I agree , that is how they will learn and improve if the more experienced players around them help them out during games.
I also don`t agree with some who seem to be clamouring to re-sign Joe Bennett and bring him back into the team. He was a good Championship level left sided defender/wing back but was also prone to frequent errors which left him out of position and caused the team to concede goals. On top of that he was the victim of his own financial greed when pushing for a greatly improved contract under the veiled threat of moving elsewhere if he didn`t get it before his unfortunate serious injury.
