pulling all the strings for fulham all ready shame we did' nt think he was worth hanging onto
Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:01 pm
And now he has just scored.
Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:03 pm
I don’t think anyone thought he wasn’t worth holding onto.
It’s just it was a lot of money.
Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:04 pm
No point in crying over spilt milk as they say. He’s gone, we couldn’t afford him so we move on. From what I saw of him with us he was good but not worth the asking price.
Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:08 pm
Difference is that Fulham have players that can and will get the ball to his feet quickly and players that will move for him.
He was good for us, but spent too much time having to work off scrappy second balls and making things happen for himself.

I disagree he was not worth it
But its more about our ambition to build a decent team and letting the better players go
got no problem with bringing through our own academy players.
But this season looks very much like cost cutting rather than going for promotion hence the low attendace in my view yesterday not covid.
Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:19 pm
think a reality check.. we don’t have that sort of lindy to spend..
Fulham using their parachute payments.

Fulham spending money like it's gone out if fashion past 3 years several hundred million in transfers plus countless millions on a new stand ? Not sure if they need it that big but who knows...

BONNER
It was our last parachute payment season just gone so we could have used our last lot on him maybe or perhaps not let a lot of our players such as holliet bennet glatzel whyte bamba all go for nothing.

Fulham have an owner with very deep pockets and is prepared to spend. Bobby Reid cost £11m from us and only makes the bench. Fulham will take some stopping this season.
Great news for Wales that Harry Wilson will be playing each week, even if it's the Championship, hopefully this will set him up for our WC qualification run.

All opinions mate but based on what I seen from him with us, £12m is steep.

Totally agree to differ in a nice way.

In the style of non-possession and long ball football in which we play he was never going to set the division alight with us.
Put him in a team like Fulham or Brentford and he’ll do well.

Today is same as when with us? Good goal as you would expect on his left foot but apart from that done very little and not in game ? So is he worth 12m to be a bit part in game and do occasional good things?

That was my point about hanging onto to players like wilson and getting shot of the hoof ball players and perhaps building a style and team around wilson but it seems mick is warnock 2 and so it goes on.

How do club hang on to him? Pay 12m? That would be entire budget if we had 12m to spend? Yes type player we need to change out style but not at that price..... football is made up of many styles of play its about the players and managers but funny enough we've been promoted twice with a defensive minded managers? Took 9yrs for brentford to get promoted using their style of play .... others have never been promoted so which way is right?

We can’t hang on to players like Wilson because we simply don’t have the budget for a £12million pound player. That’s just nonsense to suggest that.
They’re hoof ball players because that’s the way McCarthy wants to play.
I don’t believe he’s Warnock #2, give me Warnocks style over McCarthys any day of the week.

Man of match for goal no one stood out in the game with an excellent performance..... which happens a lot on tv games...
But this still doesn't mean hes worth 12m for city to spend on one player.

Definitely appears underwhelming this seasons signings but time will tell if who we've signed and possibly more before window closes make the difference? But regardless it is still going to be quite an achievement by anyone outside relegated clubs to be promoted automatically..
Sun Aug 08, 2021 5:40 pm
He's gone, let's move on.
We were never going to spend £12m on him and I'm glad we didn't because he isn't worth that.
But he's a Fulham player now, let their fans talk about him.
Reminds me of when everyone was bringing up Warnock last season whenever Boro were winning a game.

Yes Annis and fair play to Warnock and the team as the last 10 minutes or so they attacked and attacked Fulham whereas yesterday for the last 20 minutes we done f**k all in this respect.
McCarthy happy with a point at home when we should have gone for the win.
Sun Aug 08, 2021 7:48 pm
So can some one remind me what did Baccuna cost from Reading I can’t quite remember the price ?

In fairness, Middlesbrough didn't have a shot on target until they scored in the 80th minute.
That wasn't the case for us.

Maybe not but my point was they through the kitchen sink at Fulham in the later stages whilst we did nothing.
McCarthy happy wit a point as usual.

Fulham or Cardiff, no decision needed. I bet his Mrs well happy.
