TOMLIN THE BIG WAIT?

Sun Aug 08, 2021 11:27 am

Just wondering how long is mick going to wait this season for tomlin to appear
And how long are tan dalhman and choo going to watch and wait
surely with wilson gone they can clearly see we are lacking any creative player but then if mick keeps saying he is happy with the squad thats not helping surely we could find some creative midfielder from somewhere.

If fit I’m sure he would have featured at some point yesterday. Big ‘if’ at the moment though.

Mick can do nothing but wait.
It’s certainly got nothing to do with Ken Choo.

I said about a month back when he was supposed to be fit and ready in pre season give it 5 games he be in the stands again same as vassell but was told I'm talking nonsence and where are they, not ready just as I thought they wouldn't be before our first game. Pair of them a compete waste of money. I wouldn't pay a bricklayer with no arms all his life and all they have done in there career is be injured sadly that's facts

Re: TOMLIN THE BIG WAIT?

I wouldn't bet your hopes up about seeing Tomlin for many games this season.

I said months ago that he would be injured for much of this season as he was last.

Total waste of money.

You' d thunk he tomlin would be busting his gut to get in the team now wilson has gone
On that
be intetesting to see how wilson plays today in a fulham shirt

he needs to be playing to get any sort of contract anywhere next season mate so dont really see any point in him swinging the lead... same with Vassell ..

Don't hold your breath on tomlin spoke to him yesterday as he arrived at the ground had a picture of him with my grand daughter and his words were I have been fit for months mate but the manager don't like me I am raring to go and the boys in the squad have tried to get him to change his mind but his answer is always he is not for me. So make of that what you will

Interesting,,, and there’s always two sides to every story. I’d have Tomlin playing in every game personally,,,, and after yesterday’s performance it’s shockingly clear that we need creativity and imagination in our team.
This situation needs sorting ASAP, by everyone concerned!

But he played half hour v Newport which sort of shows that MM was ready to at least start him on the bench he and then held his hamstring and limped off.

Just get shot of the cart horse. Fu... bored of the whole saga and threads on it. He's ridden the club for years. Just fu... off and ride your mower and save the club 25,000 a week.

Yeah, cos he will just rip up his contract! How are the club saving his wage, if he rightly asks to be paid up?

Didnt the same thing occur with warnock? If mick cannot see his value when fit, im starting to be a tad concerned! If its personal its even worse!!

If that's true, and I have no reason to disbelieve you, then Tomlin is absolutely deluded

If he thinks he's fit then he has very different ideas of being fit than the rest of us.

Maybe he meant he's not injured... But that is completely different to being match fit.

He had some lovely touches against Newport, but he was overweight, slow and his movement was limited. He looked knackered after 10 minutes.

I'm a fan of his ability, but he's nowhere near being match fit

Re: TOMLIN THE BIG WAIT?

Mon Aug 09, 2021 8:25 am

let him go out on loan , better that than carry on as he is

Re: TOMLIN THE BIG WAIT?

Mon Aug 09, 2021 8:26 am

Watching him against Newport to me looked like he'd aged 10 years since last season. Didn't look fit, in shape nor healthy for that matter.

Such a waste for us. He's the only player we now have in our squad capable of that bit of magic.

The situation reminds me when we got promoted and went into a season with not signing a big named striker and i just knew we were going to struggle.

Same this year we are going into a season with so little creativity it will hurt us bad this season

Who's going to pay him on loan when you can't get him fit and even when he is you won't get a full game out of him ?

Honestly, the fact we have not signed a central creative / flair player, is ridiculous.

There is no way we are going into the market for a central creative player with Tomlin on the wage bill.

You may be right and if fit I would start him most games, certainly every home game.

But he looks well off being match fit.

I reckon MM is hoping Rubin Colwill will fit the bill

I admire your optimism, but if MM thought that, then don't you think he would have brought him on Saturday to try and win the game? Lumping all our hopes of a play-off push this season on a man that lives in Greggs (Tomlin) and a raw, unknown player in Colwill is suicide.

We need a complete overhaul, we got extremely lucky with Warnock, we punched well above our weight and had one season in the Premier League. For me, that one season was so underwhelming. We showed zero ambition to stay up, the quality brought in was shambolic. He then tried to carbon copy what he did when he took us up and sign hardworking players like Vaulks, Flint, Whyte and Glatzel. It was always going to end badly.

In all fairness, Harris started looking down the divisions for quality. I think Ng will turn into a real tidy player for us. His recruitment was almost spot on. Just a shame his tactics were not so much.

Agreed :thumbright:

Injuries are unfortunate, what's not unfortunate is the lack of general physical fitness every pre-season and also after injuries entering into rehab. That is just not looking after yourself in the manner expected of a professional sportsman.

Maybe, McCarthy (like Warnock) doesn't fancy him. But perhaps Tomlin should look at himself and wonder why. Maybe it's because even if he can get him on the pitch McCarthy has got to save a substitution in every game because he knows Tomlin won't last a full game. That was doable when we had 5 subs to use but now we're back to 3 then it's just not going to happen.

We're stuck with Tomlin for this season until his contract ends, let's hope he can come on at the end of a couple of games and produce some magic for us ............................ I won't hold my breathe
