Manager Mick McCarthy believes Cardiff will not face a tougher physical game than that for the rest of the season.

He admitted he was pleased the Bluebirds did not start the season with a defeat and hopes his side really give the supporters something to cheer about the next time they return to Cardiff City Stadium.


MICK McCARTHY:

“It was emotional and having fans back in was great, it was a shame we couldn’t turn it into a win," McCarthy said.

“You won’t have a tougher physical game than that and if you aren’t going to win, don’t get beaten.

“Having fans was fantastic, I’ve been around a lot of crowds and that was as good as any. I hope we can improve on that and give them something to really shout about."

“I am happy with what I saw today, over all I am happy with our performance.”

“ Hopefully we will improve and get the 3pts next time.”

I've defended the performance today, and stand by it.

But this is just pure spin from Mick.


Maybe he's been getting lessons from Dalman over the summer.

“The one thing I know about our fans is that they won’t tolerate players who doesn’t run around or work hard, and we’ve got a very committed squad. You certainly can’t knock them for effort, endeavour and work rate - they all scrapped it out.”

Effort was good. But treating the football like a hot potato is not.. I bought a ticket in the highest part of the grandstand,you get a great view of the ball up there

Not sure what game you were watching Mick, Barnsley looked very comfortable in possession and with ball. Only one side were physical and playing hoofball. We were very poor with little idea when in possession. Sort it out

Yep missed them as well A game with no yellow cards and the least fouls in the championship . I know physical does not have to mean cards and fouls but let’s face the game was very tame Not sure what Mick was seeing

I’ve lost a lot of respect for McCarthy.
Doesn’t say it as it is just talks in cliches and spin.

you havent lost anything.. you just did not want him to start with....
truth is we havent got a squad on paper thats going to bother the promotion spots { love to be wrong }
and the manager has been forced to accept cost cutting and downgrading , players leaving ,be it loans or permanents with very little leeway to replace...so not really sure what you think he should be saying.....
we didnt go gung ho last 15 mins Saturday but he didnt bring on bodies to shore up an onslaught either ..he brought fresh legs on up front...and...Barnsley wasted time

It’s contempt, nothing more. Same for Dalman, they’ll say anything they like regardless.
