Sol Bamba is expected

Thu Aug 05, 2021 7:45 am

Sol Bamba is expected to join Middlesbrough on a one-year deal which will incorporate both playing and coaching, according to the Hartlepool Mail.

Bamba left the Bluebirds this summer after a five-year stay and has linked back up with Neil Warnock up at Middlesbrough.

The centre back, 36, wants another season as a player before he moves on to the next stage of his career and, according to reports up north, Warnock is set to hand him a contract for this season.

That is corroborated by the outlet's interview with new signing Sam Morsy, who detailed the Ivorian's impact since he started training with the club a few weeks ago.

“What an amazing guy he is,” Morsy said. "I’m presuming he’s going to sign and he’s just given the place a huge lift.

"His story and having bounced back is an inspiration really. I remember his first training session and thinking wow, he’s a proper player.

"Pelts [Lee Peltier] is another one who will be massive in the dressing room. He’s a great guy, he’s vocal, he’s a leader and is in great shape.

“More importantly he’s just a really, really good person. We have a lot of similar friends and he’s someone you can fully rely on.

“You can't underestimate having these people in the dressing room, that is absolutely huge.”

honestly i think the correct decision was made at the time having paid him for almost 2 and a half years for very little football and having to decide there and then.... NW was not in the same position , did not give him a contract straight away and basically has done what we have done with Joe.....who knows what the outcome might have been had Sol stuck around and not just shot off to Leeds ? just saying he impressed me in the highlights i watched,,,,
