CONFIRMED: Swansea finally to get a manager on 5th attempt

Swansea City is delighted to confirm the appointment of Russell Martin as the club’s new head coach.









The Swans remain without a boss following Steve Cooper's departure and have just a week to go until they begin their Championship campaign at Ewood Park on Saturday, August 7.

They are closing in on appointing current MK Dons boss Russell Martin as their new head coach.

It comes after they missed out on Queens Park Rangers assistant John Eustace, who opted against a move to the Liberty Stadium last weekend after being on the brink of joining the club.

Chief executive Winter has now addressed the Jack Army in his programme notes for the Southampton pre-season friendly.


Swansea have so far had four different managers turn down the vacant job at the Liberty, but they expected to MK Dons manager
Russell Martin.

"I'd like to start my programme notes by addressing our ongoing search for a new head coach," he wrote.

"I understand the frustrations our supporters will be feeling given the close proximity to the start of the new season, but I can assure you we are working hard to ensure we find the right person to take this club forward.

"The appointment of a head coach or manager is a key one for any football club, and is one we want to ensure we get right.

"We feel we are making good progress in the recruitment process, and I am confident we will have a new head coach in place in good time for our Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers next Saturday."

being one of these philosopher blokes is the easier bit... actually turning it into effective winning football not so easy. will see loads of them this year pass sideways backwards to goalkeepers to substitutes warming up to stewards even the moving advertising hoardings anything that moves ... and MKD finished 13th ..not really terrible but not very good either...

They have an annoying habit of appointing very successful managers. I was sort of hoping this would be a dodgy one.
but speaking to someone yesterday about him - he is highly sort after. Time will tell - but I have a horrible feeling he will thrive down there.
