“ Latest News on Joe Bennett / Could be Great News "

Fri Jul 30, 2021 9:15 pm

Be interesting what some City fans who were happy for him to go and stated it on here etc etc what they say if City re-sign Bennett ? ? ?

Some argued quite strongly that we were right to let Bennett go and we should move on.

Well Joe Bennett is a fighter and quality the type of player that will make a difference for us this season :bluebird:

In a fresh development this afternoon, the 31-year-old released pictures of him back in training with Mick McCarthy’s side on Instagram, possibly signalling a potential return to Cardiff for the Englishman if he can continue his recovery from the severe injury he sustained four months ago.

He captioned these latest pictures by saying Joe Bennett; “Pure graft to get to this point. So happy to be back involved in some training today.”

If whyte is going out on loan maybe we are using the wages to bring Joe back in. Maybe Joe has reconsidered what the club offered him initially? Either way it would be great to have him back in the team. Bagan and Joe as wingbacks and Giles as a winger/forward. Still think its a shame if whyte goes out. Isnt his contract up at the end of the season ??

Need to look to our youth and players like Bagan.

I hope McCarthy is not thinking left back is an issue over eg central midfield- I mean what have we done to deserve Pack Ralls and Vaulks again??

Would love to resign him, a model pro on and off the pitch and probably the best if not one of the best players in his position in the division

Can only assume the reason someone hasn't signed him is the injury bit nobody Will know more than where he is than Cardiff so if its right sign him up@

Based on the information put out on here - correct decision to let him go prior to his injury. He was on high wages and had agreed to sign for another club apparently.

If no club has come in for him and we can pick him up on sensible wages in line with how we going about our business now then yes sign him and will give healthy competition to the younger players trying to break through. :bluebird:

Agree. He’d be superb under those conditions. A model pro and I’d imagine an excellent influence in the dressing room too.

You only have to look at how he’s fought back from this injury to see what sort of guy he is. Also I think our performances dropped off massively when we lost him. We no longer had that solid left side. If he’s fit and able … and affordable. I say sign him back up.

Wants too much money and a two year contract!

Simple, if we want to challenge for play offs you need players like Bennett, if not then we are middle table at best.

I hope we do get him back. We need depth in that position, but he could also play further forward if needed - I always felt his attacking play is a strength and more so than his defensive in some ways. Would be a really good addition if he was to resign.

I fully agree with Dobbin's reply. CCFC (the committee) were totally right not to give Bennett a wage structure breaking contract at the beginning of negotiations. He decided he was going to move on to find better and good luck to him.

If now he has changed his mind and accepted the clubs offer then I would say well done CCFC (the committee). They have stuck to their guns and signed a quality player (if and when he decides to stay) and stayed within budget.

At the moment if you are a professional footballer - then I would take any deal that was on offer.
I doubt he will get anything better anywhere else, a club is better than no club at all , good luck to him if he gets a better offer but at the moment I wouldnt bite the hand that feeds you Joe

Wish it was as simple as that; either way.

without knowing the figures and comparing its hard to judge it as too much...
he obviously wants more than is being offered ... but if we all knew the figures maybe some might see the offer as too little....

This was the reason most who agreed he should go,did?
If he had signed for another club, imho he will have to take whats on offer( if anything is)or we move on without him, we are in lean times financially, and must not bend for one player.I like joe as a player, and would prefer him to stay, but on the clubs terms, not his.

As a wing back was very good last season before his injury.

If he gets a new contract (it looks likely) it’s very much bonus related with a lower basic than he was on.

Defensive liability as said.. said he’s off, bye-bye.

People think with their hearts.. Bamba and Bennett are our history now.

On a personal note, I wouldn't say I think with my heart, hence the reason I think the club were correct not to resign Bamba as his best days are behind him and we have better options in his position. A coaching role is an entirely different discussion of course, which apparently he didn’t want.

However, on the subject of Joe Bennett, I’d say he’s got at least two years left in him as a top Championship player and particularly excels as a LWB. He gets stuck in, is a quality player and I’d challenge anyone to name a better LB to don the Cardiff City shirt in the last 35 years. Added to this he’s the best we have and can mentor Bagan, it’s a no brainer for me, providing it’s within the wage structure of the club.

Looks like theres no clubs queueing up with offers for him
Hes not the future and if we re sign him
Hes going to take the place of a youngster
We got bagan giles tom davies and browne all 23 yrs old or younger
So he is 31 yrs old and not needed imo
