Jack Grealish: Man City open talks with Aston Villa over England midfielder

Manchester City have opened talks with Aston Villa over the potential signing of Jack Grealish.
Sky Sports News has been told City made their initial approach several days ago, and lines of communication remain open.
Villa don't want to sell Grealish, and have offered him a new and improved contract to try to persuade him that his future lies at Villa Park - despite having four years left on his existing deal which was only signed in September.
The club are adamant they want to build their team around him with Dean Smith's summer recruitment plans - having already signed Emi Buendia and Ashley Young - based on players who will play with Grealish, not in place of him.
Much depends now on whether City are prepared to meet Villa's valuation of the England international - expected to be around £100m - and whether Grealish himself tells Villa that he wants to move to the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of the 25-year-old and have also been linked with Grealish's England team-mate Harry Kane and have already had one £100m bid rejected by Tottenham.
However, it is likely the Premier League champions will have to sell players to accrue funds to sign both players.

Reports state Villa don't want to lose him and any move will largely depend on the player himself
Let the mind games begin...

Quite a dilemma for both clubs and player as villa will want 100m+ but city said numerous times they wont pay that kind money.... so what does grealish do?

Achieved what he wanted with Villa which was to play in the premier league for them, can't see them winning much else soon. With Man City, he could have league titles, cups and possible champions league medals plus an ever better wage. Be crazy to turn that down you'd think.

I wonder if this will turn into another Fabian Delph saga.
Grealish has come out to say he loves the club. Delph did that with Villa but then jumped to Man City. They still haven't forgiven him

Incredible what people see in this player. Spends 60% of the game on his arse. Wouldn’t want him anywhere near my club, such a frustrating player.

im equally puzzled at the amount of these type comments on here...yes he does draw fouls and does make a meal of them but most are fouls....maybe at a better club with better players and therefore better options he might not have to take the extra touch..id have him here in a heart beat.. and truth be told most would..

He has his moments but overrated IMO. Plays for a foul too often for my liking. Bit of a maverick player, the type of which was common in 60’s & 70’s. If I was a Man City fan I’d expect Pep to find better on the continent.

Fair play Caerphilly boy that’s absolute tosh.
The guy oozes class.
Yes he sometimes buys free kicks, can make a bit of a drama but that’s what the best players around the world do.
Or maybe the England manager, the Villa board (by offering him a huge new contract) and Pep have got him wrong!
Yeah makes sense to turn down a player for Cardiff City with a valuation of around a £100 million

No one gave Grealish more stick on here than me over his antics and it drove that AV2 charater bonkers (

) but when all is said and done he was a class act on the ball and undone us on more than one occasion
If anything, Villa getting to the Premier League had only made him even better and even the best defenced have huge priblems with him so fouls come along often
His introduction to the England team has given them another level and he pkayrd a huge part in their route to the final of the Euros
Probably the best Englush 'player' since Gazza and will enhance any team, including the big ones like Man City

Manchester City have made an English record £100m bid for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.
City manager Pep Guardiola has made the 25-year-old English midfielder one of his major targets.
It is understood there has been communication between the two Premier League clubs throughout the summer.
City have made their move before Grealish returns to Villa for the start of pre-season training at Bodymoor Heath next week.
Guardiola feels Grealish can add an extra dimension to City's attack and propel them to the Champions League title for the first time, which they missed out on last season when they were beaten in the final by Chelsea.
The fee, which would eclipse the £89m Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba in 2016 as the highest ever paid by an English club, underlines how keen Guardiola is to have Grealish in his squad.

All very true mate but for this guy to say he spends 60% of the game on his arse and wouldn’t want him at the City!?
But then this fella thought Bruno Manga was shite
