Cardiff City’s Under 23’s James Waite aged 22 and Ryan Reynolds aged 21 have both left Cardiff City and have both signed for Welsh league club Penybont FC on permanent deals.

Both were highly rated at Cardiff and came through the Cardiff City U18’s Accademy.

Good luck lads :bluebird:

James Waite tipped as the new Craig Bellamy by the staff at Cardiff City and Media Wales Glen Williams stating definitely one of City’s future.

He scored 13 goals in 18 games, including two hat-tricks, when sent out on
loan to Weston Super-Mare last season.

This June Cardiff City released Waite who has now side for Welsh League Penybont FC.

Got to be honest, I'm surprised that Waite hasn't found a non-league English club where there would be a better standard of football.

Decent enough player for that level and still has potential at only 22.

If you've not made it in the first team by 21 & 22 then usually your not good enough in my opinion but of course they have not been given a chance to show anything. Baffles me why we even got an under 23 side tbh bring back reserve football and this it f**k all this age group nonsense off I say. I mean a 17 year old striker facing a championship 31 year old center half in a reserve game who's been around for years on end and coming back to fitness after injury would give a 17 year old striker more experience than another 17yr old in some age group game. Complete waste of money all these age groups but that's how I see it. These two willbe playing men now not a certain age and so they should be at that age. They will learn more that's for sure despite the level :bluescarf:

Ned,
I was told today with extras on £450 a week at the Welsh League club, actually £50 a week more than Cardiff

I would of said Hereford or even higher .

That's shocking money, agree he could have gone to Hereford's level at least.

Ian,

Many of these young lads are a great bunch, but sadly they being pushed out as Championship club level players to us all and then they disappear.

MM is pushing through young players. Some on here were saying we had nothing coming through the ranks..Bagan Tom Davies Colwill seem to be blowing that theory out of the water.
Head of Coaching: David Hughes. Lead Under 23s Coach: Steve Morison seem to be doing the business.
sadly some players just don't make it.

Sadly this is spot on, many thousands of youngsters fa.l by the wayside each year, lots after showing early promise, but never pushed on after, a simple fact of footballers lives, it's not as if we have been known as a club that has great numbers who make it into the 1st team, especially at championship level.I'd be more than happy, if we could produce 2/3 a season, even just one occasionally, but we must at least give these kids their head, see how they get on, then decide if they are good enough or not, to keep saying they are not good enough is very counter productive imho, I've read several times that the players read this and other boards, what must they think if heir name is being trashed pre season ffs??? :old: :bluebird:

thats a very very good wage for a Welsh league player especially in these times...majority of clubs are not full time ..not sure if Bridgend are but if they are its recent....

Always a shame when young players are let go but this is football. City have been poor in producing players over last 10 years But nice to see a few seemly coming through at the moment.
I am struggling to think of any one player we have released thou that we would say was a mistake thou
