Nothing changes for UK to Mallorca as Two vaccines means you can still travel to Mallorca even though now on Amber , So NO quarantine :thumbright:

Sky News

The Balearic Islands, which include the tourist hotspots of Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca, will be moved back to the amber travel list.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the measure will take effect in England from 4am on Monday, which will coincide with changes to the rules on quarantine for people arriving from amber destinations.

The Scottish and Welsh government have announced they will make the same move, with Northern Ireland expected to put out a statement later.

From Monday, people who are fully-vaccinated and the under-18s will not have to isolate after returning from countries on the amber list.

This means the move will mainly impact upon younger adults, as they are more likely to not have received two COVID-19 vaccinations.

Mr Shapps said that since the Balearics were moved to the green watchlist two weeks ago "we've seen the rates double and also the rate of positivity of these tests double, meaning that we're going to need to move quickly, as we said we might always have to do".

"Surely no one can be out there thinking we can travel and just rely on things not changing," he said.

"When we see things change for the safety and security of everyone back home we do need to react and act, and that's what we're doing today."

Latest figures show the infection rate for the Balearics is 205 cases per 100,000 people, compared with 329.9 for the United Kingdom.

Unless there are variants in that country which is not yet present in the UK, what i fail to understand is how going to a country with a lower covid rate than ours requires quarantine on return. All things being equal, you are less likely to have it on your return than if you had stayed at home. In fact if we all went away for two weeks the Covid rate would come down on our return!!

“If customers have been fully vaccinated, the Balearic travel announcement changes nothing whatsoever.”

Jet2 travel statement.

Quarantine-free travel update: Comment from Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays after Balearics placed on amber list.

“If customers have been fully vaccinated, Wednesday´s announcement changes nothing
whatsoever.”

“It is still unfair that hardworking customers and families continue to be judged by a
different and stricter set of rules when it comes to taking their well-deserved
holidays.”

“If customers have been fully vaccinated, Wednesday’s announcement changes nothing whatsoever. These customers (and children travelling with them who are under 18) can continue to enjoy, or look forward to enjoying, quarantine-free flights and holidays from across the UK to places like Mallorca who are either Green or Amber List this summer. From the demand we are seeing this is most certainly the case, with customers looking to enjoy the benefits of the successful vaccination programme by getting away to the sunshine.

You still have to provide PCR tests on departure, return with days again 8 all at the cost of £179 two tests , I think I you also have to test in Balearic before departure?? What if that is positive???

It's become obvious for a while that the double vaccination will allow you to do more as time goes by.
I'm sure this will apply to far more than travel in the coming months.
Still, it's a few day trips to Barry Island and Porthcawl for me this summer.
I couldn't be bothered with abroad at present with rules of travel changing like the weather.

It’s al lot cheaper than that if you shop around, I just came back and I paid 30 euros and £43.
