DERBY ESCAPES

relegation after EFL decides not to appeal the judgement of £100k fine for irregularities in players wages..... but they've been told to resubmit their accounts? Total cop out as didnt want to relegate them at this time season? Undoubtedly if accounts are dodgy again they will have points deduction next season...

Seems to be the case. They seem to make the rules up as they go, no consistency with punishments at all. I've taken a real dislike for derby in recent years. Hopefully have a points deduction going into this season.

Disgrace really as they've done this for several seasons but hopefully get their comeuppance later in the season with points deduction.

Lets hope wycombe appeal as well, ridiculous that Derby are getting away with this.
Read they now only have 13 proffesionals, odds on to go down next season

Not yet they haven't, i posted this a few days ago
There were two offences and there were never a points deduction for the offences regarding "PLAYER REGISTRATIONS" on the table, that was decided with a £100k fine and a warning about future conduct. but regarding the offences on accounting, that is ongoing. Derby have been told to resubmit the accounts for 16/17/18 which the efl have said are incorrect. This is a serious offence and it is one that can get a points deduction!, It is probably to do with getting around FFP by the selling of their stadium. More to come once the efl have studied the new accounts.

As igovernor says. This ain't over.

Yes, their recent offences have been dealt with but the most important sanction is the resubmission of the accounts for the last 3/4 years.

Further, heavier sanctions are on their way. How do you sanction for something 3 years ago?

Did put in op that I expect points deduction this season from dodgy accounting which as been going on for several years probably.... also may expect couple other clubs who have also sold grounds to its owners to have problems over ffp . :old:

i think the make it up as they go bit is the worse bit..... if thats the punishment for this offence fair enough but any other club doing likewise should be confident that they would face exactly the same .. personally i do not agree with some of these rules but if they are there everyone should abide or face equal consequences ....

Its the 2018 accounts which are the most questionable in which they make a 36 million profit on the sale of the ground to the holding company. This was independently valued and the auditors didn't refer to it in their report, so presumably they will rely on this as their defence. But given the ground is valued at 80 million and the new rent is only £1 million a year- little over 1% of the land value which in pre covid times was ridiculously low-either the ground was over valued or the rent is set at an artificially low level.

Looks like the EFL are going for death by a thousand cuts instead of a quick swing of the axe. Only 13 senior players, one of which is injured until 2022, no finances and seemingly more EFL investigations coming up which could bring a points deduction. Oh and Rooney at the helm.

Anything less than an absolute miracle and they’ll be relegated this season. What a shame :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
