Steven Caulker poised for Fenerbahce move

Former Cardiff City and England defender Steve Caulker is reportedly set to seal a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The defender was one of the Bluebirds' best players during their first visit to the Premier League, however following relegation he sealed a move to QPR.

Most recently, he has been in Turkey, having played for Alanyaspor since 2019. However, on social media he confirmed his exit from the Turkish outfit, writing: "Thank you very much to Alanyaspor and Alanyaspor fans for everything.

"You've always had my back and made me feel like a member of your family. You gave me a chance. I will never forget what you did for me. I wish you success."

Now, the BBC claim the one-cap England international is poised to join Fenerbahce.

He scored three goals in 33 appearances for Alanyaspor last term.

Caulker began his career at Tottenham but has also turned out for Bristol City, Swansea City, Cardiff City, Southampton, Liverpool and Dundee United.

Caulker had everything for a centre back - strength, pace, technical ability, great positioning, great tackling and scored the odd goal (ah that goal against the Jacks). Without his off-the-field problems he could have had a long career at the top.

However, I am glad he overcame his personal problems and managed to still carve out a decent career for himself.

Yep, fair play, even with his demons he did well for us on the pitch :thumbright:

He had a good season for them in truth, watch a fair bit of turkish super lig, and they had a reasonably succesful season for them, but he will be warmly greeted at fenerbahce, but wil, get severely burnt if he doesn't perform by the fans! They ain't been to kind to ozil on his return :thumbright: :old: :bluebird:

Alcohol, gambling and depression and he’s been very open about it to try and help others going through the same thing.

Can’t fault the guy for the efforts he’s made to turn his life around.
