EURO CON - are the referees blind?

Sat Jun 19, 2021 11:54 pm

Diving ability seems to have moved to another level, but in the last couple of days have noticed another con trick that seems to beat the refs every time. Robert Lewandowski of Poland did it several times against Spain - when defenders jumped to head a cross away (and their feet were off the ground) he would quickly back into them with some force and then quickly drop onto the pitch so that they would appear to have been climbing over him.

Coaches must be spending quite a bit of time finding ways to con the refs! :banghead:

This practice was banned in premier league because of the likely result in serious injury to defender... kane amongst others was an expert at doing what u described always got free kick.... but several players went over the top of him and landed dangerously so u dont see it done now.. but var as made cheating easy now although in this taunement its been very good generally and far better implemented than in premier league.

I agree that it can be really dangerous as the players that have jumped have no way of protecting themselves. While I agree that VAR has been a lot better in this tournament, a few referees have seemed blind to it in the last couple of days, and particularly in the Poland game.

Yes couple of iffy decisions but its upto refs to over rule var but those two decisions are only two seen that can have doubts about.. but in premier league those two decisions are endemic refs to scared to use their judgement and override var decisions.
