Swansea signed a 35 year lease on the Liberty Stadium with Swansea City Council who in turn were delighted with the opportunity for the rate payers of Swansea to see a return on their £27m investment. 13 years rent free despite those years of £m's of Premier League money. I bet VT would love a bit of that action.

The freehold is owned by Cardiff Council , with the club having a 150 year lease on it starting in 2009 when it was built.

Yes, this is correct; and it done to safeguard the ground on which the stadium is built to prevent it being sold for non-sporting purposes. This will ensure the nefarious actions of some (not our) club owners like Covenrty City cannot be repeated

its Coventry City council and the Higgs charity that sold the ground to Wasps not CCFC who never owned it...
