i remember BG calling up Garry Lloyd who was playing for Barry Town which caused a stir but not a Cardiff City player....

I think it's Simon Haworth Tony made his debut against Scotland in a friendly when he was 20. He played another couple or so matches for Wales but Coventry City, then a Premier League club, got him for £500,000 from us which was par for the course.

He only played about a dozen games for them, no goals, before he got sold to Wigan then Tranmere. I believe he is a non league manager now.

pretty sure Howarths 1st call up was after he had signed for Coventry.....

Could be right he was the only youngster I could think of in the Blobby Gould era.

Gary I forgot about Simon Howarth He did well when he broke through and scored some important goals, I think I can remember one being at Wigan who were going well at the time?

Loved a night out.

I remember seeing an interview with John Terry where he said there were better defenders than him at Chelsea youth but the pre season he broke in he passed on a holiday to Ibiza that others went on. He started pre season fit and cos of that travelled with the first team for some friendlies. Got some minutes and the rest is history.

Such small margins count at elite level sport.

Lee Jarman had all the ability. Just liked a drink and it cost him that small margin which could have made all the difference.
