Good to hear and vindicates our club getting rid for all the right reasons

Lower leagues now beckoning for the fallen 'star' (loose term)

An utter waste of a talent, several rehabs wasted.
Just hope he can sort himself out for his families sake

Chris its going to be all downhill for him from now on, once on that path it would take a lot for him to get back, and personally I do not think that he capaable of doing that even in the lower leagues.

Well done Cardiff City FC.

Apparently NW has offered NML a pay as you play deal because he has concerns about his fitness, he has also been given the chance to do pre season training with Middlesbrough to prove he deserves a better contract.

Mendez-Laing, meanwhile, could yet still join the club on a longer-term deal despite being on the released list.

The forward, who was a star in Warnock's Cardiff City promotion-winning side, struggled to make an impression in his nine Boro appearances. Having not played for almost a year, he was visibly out of shape and struggled for sharpness as he suffered a couple of niggling injuries. He did show a glimpse of his talent with a wonderful chipped finish against Stoke City.

Mendez-Laing has the advantage of Warnock knowing what he is capable of when fully fit.

Although his name appears on the released list, it is understood that Warnock has offered the 29-year-old the chance to join Boro for pre-season training this summer.

Appreciating that Mendez-Laing needs a solid pre-season, it's understood that Warnock would only offer him a pay-as-you-play type deal right now, but, if no other offers materialised, and Mendez-Laing takes up the pre-season training offer, he could potentially earn a better deal on Teesside if he impresses and builds his fitness sufficiently.

No doubt now our club took the right decision to get rid.

Pay as you play is a bit sus imho, sounds like warnock doesn't have complete faith in him?, with his record of columbian flu, hardly surprising imo.fitness issues my arse!!

He obviously has his issues and we were right to get rid of him but there is too much negativity about him on this forum.

I will always remember him for his explosive form for the first part of the promotion season -remember Villa, Sheff Utd, Leeds and Wolves away- and in the Premier League for his two goals at Old Trafford. And wasn't it him who dumped Alexander Arnold i think on his back side.

He had a bad injury early on that season and I believe we would have stayed up if he had played in the first half of the season.

It he'd sorted it out after the first time then I could see your point, everyone makes mistakes.

But that wasn't the case.

He made a mockery out of the club and the fans. Even now, he still hasn't even apologised to the fans which he should have done once what happened became public knowledge.

W.B.A have let go 17 players including al Robson carnu and Charlie Austin! That is a massive clear out by any standards... could be a threat to all clubs trying to get in a bit if quality in transfer window as will need around 10 players too supplement their squad.

Robson-Kanu got his contract off the back of one goal for Wales...

Shiws why clubs should never buy on the back of one decent game (Watters may be another example) and I sincerely hope he (Robson-Kanu) isn't linked to our club this summer...

Prolific he is not and never really has been

no doubt the goal helped initially but it was 5 years ago .... has signed another contract since and played 143 games under 5 different managers...

Scoring how many goals and winning exactly what in the end...?

It's an opinion I won't change on the (admittedly limited) evidence I've seen

Personally, I think you overrate him but he was a decent player for us on times; a slightly better version of Kadeem Harris

Scored some decent goals but was less than consistent, drifting in and out of form

But ultimately, he was dismissed for his self-inflicted personal issues not for the first time and rightly so and that alone makes it difficult to defend him

The difference between us staying up or not is stretching it a bit, fella...

agree..he would defo have been a big bonus had he played more in the prem season...

and would also have been a plus in the season just gone had he stayed on the straight and narrow..but he didnt...

and the lack of apology to our fans and club was and still is poor...

Sorry but I have no sympathy for junkies. Particularly junkies that have had more then one chance.

Loads of money. Surrounded by advisors.

Role model, influence to young kids yadda yadda yadda.

No apologies. Probably no remorse. No mortgage. No need to work.

Good riddance. Disgrace.
