Gareth Bale next club odds as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd all in the mix and Cardiff City emerge as contenders

Thursday 27th May 2021

It looks increasingly likely that the Wales international will cut ties with Real Madrid this summer and the player has admitted his next move is already clear in his head

Gareth Bale's time at Real Madrid appears to be creeping towards an end.

The Wales international showed just what he is still capable of this season, scoring 16 goals in 34 games while on loan at Tottenham, outscoring some of the Premier League's elite players in the process.

He has come in for some criticism, mainly from those in Spain, in recent years and by all accounts it looks as though there is too much water under the bridge for him to go back there and be a meaningful part of the squad next season.

The 31-year-old is now at something of a crossroads in his career.

It is thought that Bale, who has one year left to run on his contract, will begin negotiating his exit from Real Madrid this summer, with one report claiming he will seek half of his £13m salary as a pay-out.

That same outlet in Spain also suggested Bale would retire after this summer's European Championships, however the player's agent Jonathan Barnett quickly swatted away such suggestions on Wednesday morning.

The Wales star's efforts this season serve as evidence that he can still ply his trade at the very top of the game, but where his future lies after his exploits at the Euros remains to be seen.

There have been reports that Spurs could be keen to get him back next term, especially if Harry Kane departs, while he has spoken fondly of MLS and has not ruled out a move Stateside.

But there will be clubs in the Premier League and across Europe who will no doubt have been watching with an intrigued eye as he slalomed through the Leicester City defence and smashed a hat-trick against Sheffield United.

Bale's comments following his double against Leicester prompted more curious glances, when he admitted that he had made a decision over his future, but it would cause quite a stir.

"It'll just have to be... it will have to happen after the Euros," Bale told Sky Sports after the clash with the Foxes.

"I know what I'm doing, but it'll just cause chaos if I say anything."

When pressed on when the decision would be made public, Bale responded with a straight bat.

"All I'm thinking about now is finishing this season off strong and we meet up straight away for the Euros," he added.

"I'm not thinking about anything else other than Wales."

Where should Gareth Bale play next season? Let us know in the comments.

Some in this corner of the world are dreaming of Bale turning out for Cardiff City next season.

Bale's uncle, Chris Pike, is a bona fide Bluebirds hero owing to his time here in the early 1990s, while the player himself has as recently as this season admitted he supports Cardiff, his hometown club.

Barring a substantial reduction in wages, perhaps even as much as a 95 percent decrease on his eye-watering £600,000 weekly pay packet he currently enjoys at Madrid, the prospect of him joining Cardiff appears remote at best.

However, the bookmakers' have not ruled it out entirely, placing Cardiff equal with the likes of Manchester City for snatching his signature next season.

Cardiff fans have recirculated that famous photo of Bale holding the iconic South Wales Echo City shirt from the 1990s, while simultaneously begging him to return to the Welsh capital.

Could a Craig Bellamy-style return really be on the cards? Well, it's highly unlikely, but there's no harm in dreaming...

Not sure going to arsenal would cause chaos or any other club for that matter because surely madrid knows hes not returning so only one club he goes to will cause chaos and that is city? Can you imagine chaos of people wanting season tickets ect if he was to come here? He wont well not this season anyway. :old:

Tell Spurs fans that going to Arsenal should not cause chaos.

I think he will stay at Madrid and the chaos is that him announcing his staying will confirm/spark rumours around Zidane's possible departure this summer.

Think you may well be right He has stuck it out for long enough and at the end of the season is a free agent

Zidane is going so no longer any chaos. Possibly was told he would be playing next year by the Chairman and that contributed to Zidane leaving. I see Bale is now 10/1 to come to Cardiff so you never know. Maybe Bale and Ramsay are both joining with shares in the club offered instead of wages :occasion5:

If we can get ourselves promoted next season I wouldn't bet against him joining us then

chaos is a strange word for him to use.....and yes the reaction of him going to Arsenal would be the closest

Totally fantasy really but if Cardiff offered to pay Bale 200k a week, could they recoup most of the money from season tickets, shirts & commercial activities. Not to mention the boost it could give our promotion aspirations.
It could be worth a punt?

Would obviously love to have him BUT what feeling would it cause among the other squad members with one player on that sort of money??

Re: ' Gareth Bale next club '

If he was a journeyman picking up a pay cheque it could be an issue but Bale has been one of the top 5 iconic players of the last 10 years and you would think that Championship level players would be chomping at the bit to play with him.

Can you imagine Pack asking for more money because of what we were paying Bale?

He would be a talisman and a great opportunity for all of the squad to get promoted to the Premier league and all the associated bonuses.

Re: ' Gareth Bale next club '

Dream on he'd get clogged to death in the Championship (if we could get the ball to him in the first place), he will need Premier League VAR protection, and he's still good enough to play for a top level premiership team.

Re: ' Gareth Bale next club '

Thu May 27, 2021 2:11 pm

Yeah you are probably right about getting clogged but as I said at the start it's all wishful thinking and total fantasy.

But if I had Tan's money it would be a reality.

Bale could play golf at The Vale or Celtic Manor everyday then. :occasion5: :bluescarf:

It's lovely to dream but, unfortunately I can't see this ever happening.

The only thing in our favour is that his family lives in/around Cardiff.

Unfortunately, he's proved that he can still perform at the highest level this season (once Mourinho had left !) so he's got another season or two earning top dollar.

It it would be nice though !!

Can you imagine the outcry from other Championship clubs if it happened   They were apoplectic when they reckoned we were cheating by getting Bellamy on loan, imagine their reaction if we got Bale :o :laughing5: :laughing5:

But if he agrees a pay off with madrid, he wouldn't be a loan. But it is silly season is ot not lol.

If I were bale id play for 20k a week, and donate it to local charities, its not as if he needs money.

If it were me in said squad, I'd be thinking my club are funally showing true ambition and it would eclipse even the Craig Bellamy signing, which came well out of left field...

Ican't even start to think it could happen but live in a strange world...

Not a chance in the world.

Re: ' Gareth Bale next club '

If he were to ever join us, it would be at the very end of his career. Even then, I'd expect him to go to the MLS or China for the money - can't say I'd blame him either!

He'll probably be waiting to see who gets appointed the new manager at Real Madrid and whether they see him as part of their plan.

Spurs will probably get a minimum of £120m for Harry Kane if they sell him, everyone knows Levy drives a hard bargain. If that happens, they could afford to sign Bale if they wanted. They probably would want to as well.

Other than that, he could go to Italy. Plenty of the top clubs are having a complete overhaul this summer and there might be an opportunity for him there. Juventus, Inter, Lazio and Napoli all changing managers.

If modric is a guide way levy operates kane is going nowhere! But potterchino going to spurs may yet persuade bale to sign but there again bale's comments came before any of the afore mentioned managers resigned? Like you say money may not be the motive for next move wasnt for bellers..
