Were they already in trouble for the sale of the stadium? If derby and Wednesday go down I think they are bang in trouble financially with a massive balancing act and rebuild needed in league 1. Hoping Wednesday go down as we've been linked with a few of their players.

Simon Jordan ex palace owner reckons it's a good buisness decision all to do with releasing money ... this new owner sounds very iffy if you heared his previous remarks and claims ....but theyve been in trouble for several years and obviously its getting worse relegation wont help either..

If they try to refinance the ground then the true value of it will be revealed. Should be interesting to see if any third party financier is willing to value it at what the value the owner paid for it. It was by claiming that the ground was valued correctly and thus comply with the fair play rules that enabled them to escape the points deduction.

Valuing stadiums as an asset is crazy.

Their only real value is the land they are on. To be knocked down (very expensive) and the land sold is the only profit there.
Who wants a 30,000 seater stadium with all it's running costs?
What sports other than football could fill it?

Agree entirely with you. No club, no value apart from the land which will be nowhere near the value of the stadium unless it in a prime location with residential potential for which you get planning permission. From my memory of Pride Park is valued at around 70 million and is stuck out on a retail park. No way I would imagine the land is worth anywhere that( Fulham being a prime example of a ground which could be worth a fortune.)
