SPFL players out of contract

Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:56 am

There will be a huge 134 players out of contract this summer window from the SPFL

Surely there must be a handful worth looking at?

be interesting to know how many EFL players out of contract.... going to be a hell of a lot of clubs trying to reduce wage bills and therefore reluctant to re sign big earners...

Which means they'll be out of contract with their Championship clubs and available ;)

Tbf I thought it was high but couldn't be arsed checking each club for loans ending and contracts ending. Gives a decent enough idea though of some players who might be available

With the exception of a few promising championship players to the premier league, I don't see many big transfers at all. The money is just not going to be there.

There will need to be a lot of honest conversations with players and agents. If you are Marlon Pack and your agent can get you a three year deal at Portsmouth for less weekly wage and we are very unlikely to match his current deal next year do you ask for the old by "mutual consent", shake hands and rip up the contract. There will be a lot of wheeling and dealing

What do we do with Josh ? A year to go, still in his prime, does he see out the season and leave as a Bosman free next year and hope the marketplace is in a better place. Or do we sell him at a massive discount, say £2 million. In the right team that will look like the steal of the century, but it may be better for both parties.

I believe we can really reshape the squad for when the world gets back to normal. This has been the right time to have an ageing worthless squad. Our only hit will be Josh. We won't have to sell Keifer

Although we also need to do something with Morrison, Ralls, Vaulks to ensure they don't walk away for free next season

Greg Stewart at Rangers wouldn’t break the bank, very pacy direct winger/inside forward. Better than Ojo in my opinion.

Nah. Why they playing up there?

How much Scottish football do you watch, Ojo wasn’t good enough for Rangers but did ok for the City.

I would take Dembélé in a flash. But imagine he will be snapped up by a premier league club as he is a huge prospect. He does need to move south and get into a good U23 team.

Good call, I think he would do well for us although I suspect that MM will go for younger players

Haha.

I cringe even writing that because Stewart is 30. 30 is nothing these days really. Hardly out of being a youth!

But seriously we have had one of the oldest squads in the league. Going into this season Murphy was our youngest first team squad player!

That has changed recently with Ng, Sang the Ojo and Wilson loans, with Harris getting some time earlier in the season.
