We don't see these players in training. The majority of us have never seen these players play live in person.
Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor do on a regular basis.
If they don't think they're ready to be starting games, then I trust them on that.
I am also of the opinion that it is unfair to play them against teams who are still fighting for something.
Just imagine what we would think if we were fighting to get in the play-offs on the final day of the season and the team who were playing our rivals put out a bunch of kids because they had nothing to play for. It wouldn't be fair.
So I wasn't at all surprised that none of them were involved in the games against Reading and Brentford.
I believe that the manager and the coaches will learn more about whether they're good enough in pre-season.
So I know I'm in the minority here, but my answer is no.

I’m not saying to put ALL youngsters out at once. But, also, I don’t see the problem. If any player at any club has a professional contract, then they are as entitled to play as the next player, regardless of what other teams say. If every team thought like that, then we wouldn’t have seen the likes of Owen, Rooney and even Pele burst into the scenes.

The problem here is when is it ever fair on the oposition if they have something to play for and we don't. We are playing two of the bottom three and one other relegation threatened side in our last three games, so it would be perfect to play them in all three games as we are not favouring any of them that way. We can't think of the opposition at the expense of our own future....

i know whats being suggested...and also know the examples are not examples of it at all....
Rooney.... do you honestly think everyone was blind to his talent.
its surprising what kids can do....only if good enough which is my point.... seems to be a total lack of understanding that they are not all identical lego blocks...they are at different levels... some { although probanly the best we could find } are only there as a vehicle for the normally one or 2 that stand a real chance...
people are talking about 5 or 6...jesus ..on top of us having been forced already to play inexperience... hows that gone ?
we have an experienced manager mate who has given plenty of young boys debuts during his career and who knows a player when he sees one...cant help seeiing this as just something else to chuck at him...if not now in the future...as will any poor results he might pick up in the process... ive not seen this suggested before .. not in warnocks 1st season..or under Slade or Malky and boy did they miss out on some world beaters by not playing musical chairs...think we could have 2 whole teams of division 2 welsh league players...if only...

It looks like McCarthy would rather play for a pointless draw with players who won't be with us next season than risk a young player. I don't think it is because he has seen the youngsters and doesn't think they are good enough, everyone who follows the youth team say this is the most talented bunch of youngsters we have had since the Ramsey era playing a couple of them might actually improve the team not weaken it but obviously we will never know till he tries it.
To me it is a bafflingly stupid policy and no way to prepare for next season.

It's a little bit odd because Mick McCarthy was categorically told (and agreed) to 'blood' more youngsters before he took over at the club...

As Ive said in another thread, just how many youngsters are good enough, and ready for first team football?

Until we see them play no one can know for certain. Watters has league 2 experience so should be ready mentally, at least. No one knows if he can step up as he hasnt had a chance. Harris has played a few games as well so same as watters. Colwill is our main prospect and he's had a few minutes. Mick said he hasnt been out of place training with the first team as well. I think that's who people are most keen to see to be honest. Others players like Davies, patten, Evans are often mentioned but have no experience above u23s.
To be honest, I find the idea if having to include 2 u23s players by order rather than on merit a bit pointless. Id find it a bit demoralising if I knew I was only on the bench because the manager has been told to do it. All the times they've been on the bench they've barely been used.
