Frank's bottle of wine to McCarthy pre-match
Thomas Frank and his Brentford staff perhaps didn't win over too many fans with Cardiff's friends down the road at the Liberty Stadium last season.
Indeed the intense play-off battle with the Swans meant things got a bit lively out there on the touchline.
This match was perhaps not going to have the same intensity as that encounter, but relations were seemingly a lot friendlier when McCarthy and his troops turned up in west London.
Before the game the two managers were involved a lengthy chat as Frank welcomed him to the new stadium.
The Bees manager handed the Bluebirds boss a bottle of wine as a welcome gift, too, which was a very nice touch.
It's not quite clear why Frank handed over the bottle, perhaps it was a congratulatory gift to mark McCarthy passing 1,000 games as a manager earlier in the season.
Whatever the reason, McCarthy is a manager who has seen it all in this division and this was a gesture perhaps indicative of the respect he commands at this level.
Whether he would have preferred a pint of bitter isn't all that clear.
