It was a rather unexpected surprise to see Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy with his assistant Terry Connor perched 10 rows below the press box in their navy blue tracksuits.


Having drawn 1-1 against Reading on Friday night, Bluebirds manager and his assistant made the short journey across the border to potentially scout out some young and exciting talent at the Mem, as the pair were making notes throughout the contest.

Luke McCormick has impressed for Rovers during the later stages of the campaign with two valuable goals in their vital victory over Doncaster Rovers two weeks ago and as he nears the end of his loan spell at the club from Cardiff, McCarthy could be eyeing up a potential signing ahead of next season.

On the flipside, the young pairing of Anthony Scully and Callum Morton for Lincoln may have been who he was analysing, but what is for sure, is that McCarthy certainly couldn’t have made the trip just to see the Bluebirds’ loanee Joe Day sit on the Rovers bench for 90 minutes.



The Gas’ skipper is well-known to be a passionate character and from the get-go, it was clear to see what he thought of the referee’s decision-making.

Maybe he just likes them and sees his future there.

If it is a Bristol Rovers player it would almost certainly be Luke McCormack. He has been playing well for A struggling Rovers side this season. Is on loan from Chelsea where he has been since the age of nine. Presumably would not have lasted that long at Chelsea unless he had some ability and with the Chelsea midfielder pedigree you would think he can pass the ball. Millwall are very interested in him also.

If they were looking at anyone from Lincoln it could be either ;

Brennan Johnson 19 years old - On loan from Nottingham forest. He has scored 10 goals this season and plays as an attacking midfielder. He also plays for Wales.

Vice Captain Jorge Grant 26 years old - also a midfielder who has scored 11 goals.

I'm not saying we should go for these players but just noting it may not just be Bristol Rovers they were looking at

Brennan Johnson is an exceptional talent. Highly doubt we would get him or forest letting him go, but he is exactly the kind of player we need and he's welsh too. Pace in abundance, great energy and vision. Carries the ball very well.

Don't know much about Jorge Grant but he seems highly thought of.
