KANE'S FUTURE: THE KEY QUESTIONS

Harry Kane's future has hit the headlines, with reports he is expected to tell Tottenham he wants to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.. But why would he want to move, how much would he cost - and would Spurs even let him go?

The Tottenham star will turn 28 in July and it is understood he is becoming increasingly concerned at Tottenham's failure to compete for major trophies.

Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmour, who covers Tottenham, appeared on this week's Pitch to Post Preview Podcast and explained why the top-four race and Spurs' Carabao Cup final against Manchester City later in April could be pivotal to the next steps the club makes.

BREAKING NEWS

Harry Kane is expected to tell Tottenham he wants to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Kane will not make a final decision until after the Euros but the failure to compete for major trophies is increasingly concerning for the ambitious England striker.

Any departure would be complicated and needs to be sanctioned by Daniel Levy, because Kane has a contract until June 2024 & Spurs have always insisted he’s not for sale.

The ongoing situation is likely to trigger interest from Europe’s top clubs.

It will take a lot of money if anyone wants to sign him.

Levy is not an easy man to deal with when it comes to transfers.

It really is this season or never for him. At 27 he is well within his prime, although he signed a 6 year deal 3 years ago so the club can put a staggering fee on his head for potential suitors.

The problem for Harry is Spurs do not have a top 4 squad and they blew the original Bale money and then built a new stadium so the extended squads of both Manchester clubs beat you over a season. Add to that that Liverpool won't be this poor again and Chelsea will always finance deals.

So Spurs are in the same bracket as Arsenal who are in terminal decline but have a beautiful stadium as well and then have to fight off the one season wonders like Leicester, Everton, and currently West Ham.

So either Levy finds the finance for a deeper midfield and defence or has an unhappy player or if he sells then really unhappy customers sorry fans.

Is Joe Rodon a top 4 staring centre half ?

Rodon is their best defender and hardly ever plays. Playing today though.

I think he's a top defender, personally.

A big harsh to call Leicester one season wonders. Still in 3rd this season, only just finished outside the top four last season and have been in and around the European places ever since they won the league five years ago.
