MICK McCARTHY: ' LATEST ON LEE TOMLIN '

Lee Tomlin has only one start this season for the Bluebirds and 50 (including subs) in three and a half years.

Tomlin last appeared for the Bluebirds over 6 months ago and has only had one start since last August.

Tomlin was due to start playing for the first team in February, now he has missed two U23 games through illness and a small
New injury.


McCarthy has said how he feels over the weeks regarding Tomlin, “No where near the fitness he requires of his players.”

He got injured standing on someone's ankle in the warm up for the U23’s, and the other player did not get injured ???

"He was due to play the other game in the under-23s. It’s sod’s law, in the warm-up he stood on one of our other player’s ankles and it wasn't the other player who got injured - it was him.”

dont get any of this stuff... nobody is going pay him what we do let alone fork out a fee... so why would we pay him up so he can then go elsewhere get paid by them { all be it less } on top of his pay off.. and possibly come back to haunt us...

for me keep him here ,its the final year of his contract with him knowing if he spends the year injured/ over weight / not playing he is unlikely to get much of an offer from anyone... , i doubt we will extend again so if we get a few perdormances from him great..if not he will just be shooting himself in the foot... whichever way the money has gone ,

It’s how I see it too. It’s not so long ago that some on here were having a pop at the club for paying players off and now people saying we should pay him off, you can’t make it up.

For me its like throwing money down a pit, honestly its shocking, Tomlin getting money for doing f**k all and its a fact.

Truth is we've not got many if any class midfield players.

seems that way and its frustrating...i think best we can hope for is he gets fit for next season

Given Tomlin is according to a number of sites on the internet earning £19,000 per week, I believe he should be named in the first team squad and compelled to come on as a sub if needed for a short time. We never know; he could help the team and if he injures himself - so what - as he is under contract until 2022 and with the season end coming up; he can recover in the summer. Why pay him a fabulous sum just to sit on his backside if he could help the City?

maybe we could have Ken Choo on the bench too , im sure he is on a wedge... not sure if theres any shape on him mind but might as well try and get something out of him
