I know its easy to get carried away with a 6-1 win but the U18s and U23s have been improving significantly over the last 12 months and there has been a remarkable improvement since November.
Despite the odd loss the academy teams have been playing really well. The passing and pace is very impressive.
I've not been this excited about the players coming through for a long time - in fact in the past we have had great individual academy players to get excited about, but as a collective I would say we have a whole group coming through who are way better than any single group coming through in the past.
I hope that we can keep this group together as long as possible and give many of them the first team opportunities at the right time. MM and TC seem very keen to do so which also has contributed to the increased confidence and belief the team has.
Special praise to Morrison who is integrating a playing style that, while a better passing style than the first team, still allows the scope for these players to make the step up.
