Steve Cooper, manager of Swansea City, and Thomas Frank, manager of Brentford
Thomas Frank believes it will be a "dog fight" between Watford, Swansea City and Brentford for the second automatic promotion spot from the Championship.

Norwich City have opened up a 14-point gap between themselves and the play-off places following a run of nine consecutive wins before the international break - a sequence that was ended when they drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers.

Swansea and Brentford faltered in the final week before the break - although both sides boast a game in hand over Watford who are currently second.

Those that fail to make the automatics could be facing inform Mick McCarthy’s Cardiff City, with his owners knowing how big the prize money is worth having had two promotions their themselves bringing in to the club £400million.

Brentford boss Frank says Norwich will end the campaign as champions, although he believes the race for second place remains firmly up for grabs.

"Norwich will definitely win the Championship this season," said the Dane.

"I think it’s going to be a dog fight between Watford, Swansea and ourselves for the last automatic promotion spot.

"I obviously hope and still believe we can get that. It will be a hard-fought battle right till the very last game."

Swansea occupy third spot ahead of their clash with Birmingham City on Friday night.

Steve Cooper's men are six points adrift of Watford while Brentford are a further point behind in fourth.

The Hornets - who have won their last five league games in a row - play six sides currently in the top 10 during their run-in.

Promotion into the Premier League is expected to be worth in the region of £200m, a significant sum given the recent loss in revenue for clubs owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

The second spot belongs to Watford. Why this guy is saying this is beyond me.

Ian,

Funny the managers Malky & Warnock that brought the £400mill in to our club get slated by the CCFC Committee and quite a few fans and now a similar type manager Mick McCarthy might do exactly the same, hopefully after Big Mick has one day left us they don’t slate him as well.

Short memories by some .

Yes this is a bit of a non-story, there is no way that Watford are going to let that 2nd spot go, Brentford and the Jacks are in the play-offs pure and simple.

The main story is that of the last two play-off places, I think its between Barnsley, Reading, Bournemouth and ourselves. With Barnsley and reading starting to Stutter I do think the Door is opening for both Bournemouth and City to take 5th & 6th place

At this point 1 of those teams will go up with Norwich and the other 2 are in the play-offs .

That leaves the next 2 with a few other teams playing for the remaining 2 places :bluebird:
