Norwich City and Sheffield United linked with £7m summer swoop for Cardiff City star

The Premier League-bound Canaries are said to have revived their interest in the Bluebirds ace as they begin to plan a summer squad restructure

Cardiff would be wanting about £7mill for the highly rated Will Vaulks, who Neil Warnock paid £500,000 in June 2019 from Rotherham United.

Premier League-bound Norwich City are reportedly keen on signing Cardiff City midfielder and Wales international Will Vaulks.

The combative midfielder has been one of the standout performers under Mick McCarthy since he took over back in January and has grown to become a true fan favourite among Bluebirds supporters.

Vaulks has scored some world-class goals in a Cardiff City shirt, but has also earned praise for his tenacity, work-rate and leadership in the middle of the park.

And that has not gone unnoticed, it seems, with the Daily Mail reporting that runaway Championship leaders Norwich are weighing up whether to table a bid for the Welshman this summer.

The report also adds that Sheffield United have registered an interest, however any potential deal would hinge on who succeeds Chris Wilder as Blades boss.

It is claimed that Cardiff would want somewhere in the region of £7m for the 27-year-old, which would go a long way during these times of no supporters in stadiums and financial difficulty amid the coronavirus pandemic.

They add that the Canaries previously tracked the midfielder when he was captain at Rotherham, however he opted to join Neil Warnock's Cardiff back in the summer of 2019.


Top-flight clubs continue to monitor the likes of Todd Cantwell, Emi Buendia and Max Aarons and it is thought manager Daniel Farke wants to get all his ducks in a row should any of his players leave this summer.

Vaulks is a highly-valued member of this Cardiff City squad, indeed he embodies many traits supporters feel are synonymous with the club.

There has been widespread outrage from City supporters that Vaulks has not been included in the latest Wales squad, which was only heightened when Joe Allen went off early with injury against Belgium on Wednesday night.

I'd be surprised if Sheffield United went after him. They have a lot of players in that position and are unlikely to leave.

I would also expect that Norwich would be looking at better players, given they'll be in the Premier League.


He's also not worth £7m.

Totally agree I don’t know what Vaulks has done, as he’s played well enough to get in the Wales squad. They even called cooper (defender) up from the U21s today.

How so Annis? Who have we lost money on that were actually in our team. I’m not talking about the shite signings made by Malky and Ole when Tan gave loads for transfers.

We sold players when we were relegated which suited us due to the wages. We have never sold players we wanted to keep and have sold them close to their contract expiring or because we had better.

Nothing like when we had to sell Kav, Earnie, Gabbiadon, Collins, Chopra, Johnson, Ramsey. Most of them far less than they were worth.

Worth no more than 2 million , if we sell we need to recoup the alleged 500k outlay , so he goes for 2.5 or more like his agent wins the day and gets him an improved contract which is where this all started from .

At least its not as bad as the rumour of Chelsea monitoring Murphy, Scott Malone being tracked by Dortmund. Etheridge to a Premiership club.
