Its a good trip but expensive so try getting over the borders in Germand and France for cheaper drinks - City Centre only 20 mins from Airport on bus in taxi about 50 swiss francs as busses stop at 11.30 pm
Stadium about 20 mins walk from city centre or 10 mins on the 14 tram
Enjoy your trip - Look forward to the low down

Dobbin wrote:had a cracking trip away with England to Basel and thought I would give you an update on the trip
Started early Tuesday morning when I was walking to the check in at heathrow terminal 5 and who was walking past me the other way was non other than John Toshack (did not realise how tall and fat he was) smiled and said hello and the ignorant tw*t just carried on walking.
On plane out to Basel was sat with alot of the journalists who write for the major rags and also on the Sunday Supplement such as Brian Woolnough, Andy Dunn, Neil Custis, Sean Custis, Sam Wallace to name but a few along with a few others. (Not the first time I have spoke to them and they are keen to speak to fans well some are anyway)
Arrived in Basel and that is the madest airport I have ever been to - I was staying in a hotel in France just the other side of the Swiss border right by the airport and you can walk out of two exits one in to switzerland one into France/Germany and then when you want to get back acroos at the airport you just walk through a single door (All very bizarre)
England fans were allowed to use their match tickets on transport for the day but at £50 a ticket when Wales are being charged £25 I suppose there were some perks
Basel very expensive for drinking around 7.5 to 10 swiss francs per pint (£5 upwards)
Met up with a few lads I knew and also got speaking to Forest and Coventry fans - Forest fans were saying there is a major rift between chairman and manager and is destabalising the club also admitted that had blatently tapped up Whitts and Prately although I wonder if the money was really ever there - Coventry fans were just asking about the bellamy deal and a general overview of whats happening down here (despite what the press and other clubs fans say they dont really care about the loan deals of Cardiff as they were saying all part and parcel and they think we have a strong case for getting promoted this year along with QPR and Boro ??)
Made way to ground after spending the afternoon in Pitwicks on the lager - Nice and tight ground although away fans where fenced in and had netting in front - there were afew mindless england fans trying to climb on the fence and shook it the whole way through and at halftime had a minor attempt to get on to pitch (Problem with cheap flight games you get loads of lads that would not normally go and all started having a pop at each other )
Excellent first half with rooney looking someway back to his best and Defoe should have had a hatrick ! Second half not so good and when they had the player sent off they came into the game more and scored a cracking goal - Always thought England would hold on but until the third went in was nip and tuck
SIde looks so much better without the disruptive Terry and ineffective Lampard in it - Gerrard and Adam Johnson were immense and the side looks so much more balanced
On the flight home had all the sky lot with me including Nick Collins, Jamie Rednapp, Richard Key, Alan Smith and Martin Tyler plus all the press lot again- not the first time I spoke to Jamie but all good.
Looking forward to the next home game agains Montenegro as now become top of the table clash, if honest I dont think Wales will pick many points up in the group as Switzerland look a good side, probably Bulgaria the best chance
Could put so much more but fingers fucked from typing............. How Carl does his update I willnever know
