:bluebird: ' CCFC TWO NEW CONTRACTS / PLUS A NEW SIGNING ' :bluebird:

Wednesday 17th March 2021

CEO KEN CHOO:

Three promising players have committed their futures to the Bluebirds this week.

Kieron Evans and Keenan Patten have put pen-to-paper on new contracts with Cardiff City Football Club, while the Bluebirds are pleased to announce the signing of central defender Ibrahim Bakare ( Morecambe) following a successful trial with the Club :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

18-year-old (Will be 19 this May) Ibrahim Bakare joins City on a deal until the summer of 2022, having previously been with League Two side Morecambe and non league Lancaster Town last season on trial. Bakare was at League Two Morecambe until October, when the club terminated his contract.

Morecambe Football club had terminated Ibrahim Bakere’s contract and Lancaster Town had decided on not offering a contract, so Balesre’s was a free agent.

CARDIFF CITY'S NEW SIGNING

Ibrahim Bakare:

"I'm really happy to be here,” Ibrahim said this week. “I came over and spent ten days on trial and played in two U23 matches , and after the last of those I was told they'd like me to sign."

"This is a step up for me. It's a historic Club. I want to show what I can do and learn off the experienced players and staff. My aim is to get my head down, get into the best shape possible, finish the season off well and show my quality." :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Steve Morrison Cardiff City U23 manager:

"Ibrahim needs to settle at a Club. He was at Morecambe and lockdown happened. He had a successful loan move at Lancaster Town too. I want to see him grow. Physically, he's a big, strong lad. He came in, he was really confident and showed great leadership qualities. He's got really good character and I think he'll be a really good acquisition for the group.”

Morecambe manager Derek Adams has admitted that teenage defender Ibrahim Bakare is no longer with the club.

Ibrahim Bakare had spent time on loan with Lancaster Town last season.

Bakare was at League Two Morecambe until October, when the club terminated his contract and has since been looking for a new club.

The 18-year-old, who had been added to the first-team squad last year after impressing with the club’s academy, had been handed the number 22 shirt for the new season over the summer.

He said: “Ibrahim has left the club. It was probably best for both parties.

“As far as I’m aware, he’s just looking for a club. He’d been on trial at a few clubs with our permission before he left.

“His contract has been terminated but we have a sell-on clause that enables us, if he does well somewhere else, to get some money.”

Think about all the players we've released in the past and have gone on to better things.

Maybe, finally, it's our turn to get some success from signing young players who have been let go by other clubs.

Interesting career so far that Bakare.
seems to have gone from something called Mass Elite Academy in London and joined Morecambe as a 16 year old. but he had in his contract that he could go on trial to other clubs and the manager has got tired of him going off on trials every week so he's let him go.

To my very non expert eye, he looked excellent in a back three when on trial with us.

Surprised he's only 18 too as he's a big guy. definitely had a bit of a growth spurt since transfermarkt recorded his height as 1.8m.

Its a signing for the academy. Just like brown was when we signed him from Wealdstone after a trial here.

Calm your passion.

We picked up Cameron Jerome from non league Scarborough. He didn’t have a bad career ( still is, in fact).

We picked up Joe Ralls from Aldershot. That didn’t turn out badly either..

To name but two.

Let’s give the boy a chance!

Got to admit I am struggling to think of too many players we have released (rather than let their contract run down like Joe Ledley) that have gone on the better things that Semi Adejay guy playing for West Brom maybe but I can't think of anyone else. A few players floating around the lower divisions but no one special springs to mind. Who were you thinking of?

Tomlin and Moore were both playing non league football in their early 20’s. Jamie Vardy was 26 and playing non league football when he signed for Leicester. All players start somewhere and he’s still a teenager.

indeed they were.. along with ten thousand others that are not Tomlin , Vardy and Moore that continued to be non league players... they are very much the exceptions...

And if he can't cut it at our level then we can sell him on. He's a free transfer and will be on tiny wages, if in 2 years time he's not managed a place in the first team we can offload him to a League 2 team. Being 20 years old and with 2 years experience training at a Championship club and with Championship quality facilities/coaches/staff/etc we would probably be able to get a fee that matches or maybe even exceeds the 2 years of wages he would've been paid.

It's a small gamble with a minuscule amount of money and borderline zero risk.

Bagan, brown and tang were all signed for the academy recently. All 3 are playing their part this season. Even ralls was signed for the academy. Saves a lot money if you can bring players through like this.

People moan that the academy is shit and people moan when the academy try to find/development young talent. Club cant win.

not a moan , an observation....
our under 23s go through a hell of a lot of young men { the vast majority get released and not sold } ...but if one gets mentioned on here ,people get excited and its not long before jamie vardy is mentioned... .. then if one actually gets a game they are man of the match in the vote...
as for the academy itself { the younger boys } i do wonder what goes on there if when they get to be older teenagers we can go out and find better at places like crawley , wealdstone and morecambe... Sang and Bagan having been released by cat 1 academies i understand

Trouble is you say to name but two but those are just about the only two that can be named and there has been a hell of a lot more that have disappeared into obscurity. Nothing really wrong with that most clubs in this division will be exactly the same.

I think Tom Sang may well be added to the Jerome and Ralls list judging on the way he has played so far.

I am optimistic about Bakere. Yes he has been realeased by Morcambe and that is not usually not usually a good sign but the reason he was realeased was he had some very unusual clause in his contract that the club had to allow him to go out on trial to other clubs and Morcambe felt they could not integrate him in their first team squad as he kept on leaving them to go on trial. Might turn out to be a good un he obviously feels he is too good for Morcambe so at least he has ambition.
