' Kieffer Moore blunted '
By Glen Williams
Few could argue that Kieffer Moore's signing hasn't been a huge success story for Cardiff this season.
He has been superb, not only in front of goal but his all-round play. He is so often the focal point and launchpad for City's attacks, having to deal with a barrage of balls lumped his way.
His finishing, for the most part, has been rather clinical for the majority of the season, which has seen him chalk up 16 goals already.
The Wales international is simply indispensable at the minute and for that reason he can be forgiven for looking a little jaded against Stoke.
He has to play every minute in which there is a game going to the wire. McCarthy has had so few opportunities to take him off and rest his legs, because he is Cardiff's biggest threat by some distance.
But he missed two, perhaps even three, huge chances against Stoke and it was the first indication that Moore, who has carried this side for parts of the season, is actually human.
He blazed a volley over the bar from no more than 10 yards out, the second time he has done that in as many games, a chance which you would have expected him to take.
Then, those two gilt-edged chances late on. For the first, he was clean through on goal but took a heavy touch to afford Adam Davies enough time to snuff out the danger.
Then, right at the last, he was presented with a perfect opportunity to notch the winner, just 15 yards out, unopposed and with the ball having bounced kindly. But he bungled the opportunity, opting for a left-footed volley, and it squirted wide.
It was a frustrating night for him, but, as McCarthy said after the match, there really is no replacement for him.

Didnt have to replace him on pitch but MM could have given him help later in game? But MM ideology of not wanting to lose game prevented him from utilizing Harris or watters to play along side him! Perhaps if he did city may have converted the late chances to score.

That's a very negative view in context of topic! But you could als say we could have lost game by same token?

not at all mate ... its in response to your negativity and assuming something our manager said was negative when i dont think it was at all....yes you make changes and the game changes and that can impact either way....

MM said he wished that he had a replacement for Moore so he could rest him a bit more. We did have one in Callum Paterson. A tried and tested centre forward who could win headers, hold the ball up and score goals. Ideal off the bench when Kieffer is starting to tire in games, or to cover during injury. Wonder what happened to him??
