MY VIEW: CARDIFF WERE VERY POOR TONIGHT & SO WERE STOKE CITY

Tue Mar 16, 2021 8:54 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

CARDIFF WERE VERY POOR TONIGHT & SO WERE STOKE CITY / SO BOTH CLUBS SETTLED FOR A DIRE 0-0 DRAW.

2pts dropped in my opinion and play=offs not looking good now for Cardiff

ONE DEFEAT IN THIRTEEN FOR BIG MICK :bluebird:

The lack of quality in the final 3rd from both clubs was lacking badly tonight.

Never seen so many poor shots by Cardiff including from Kieffer Moore.

Good job Stoke were just as bad and Phillips made a couple of good saves.

Stoke are a very poor side, but tonight somehow Cardiff were worse.

With Cardiff only having 1 defeat from their last 12 games and Stoke losing their last 4 out of 5 games & out of the play-offs, for me this was the prefect match for Mick McCarthy's team to get back to winning ways.

Stoke had not won away for 10 games since December.

First-Half: Awful half by Cardiff, one of the worst under Big Mick, very lucky we were still drawing

Second-Half: Cardiff came out far better, but their shooting was absolutely awful and the final 3rd was not there.

CARDIFF CITY 0 STOKE CITY 0 :bluebird:
H-T 0-0

Cardiff City: Phillips; Morrison, Flint, Brown; Sang, Vaulks, Pack, Ng; Bacuna; Ojo, Moore.

Subs: Smithies, Ralls, Williams, Colwill, Hoilett, Murphy, Wilson, Harris, Watters.

After 15 mins Stoke had the best chance and a great save by Phillips.

Cardiff got away with one as Fletcher fired low at Phillips, Thompson followed up with the rebound and Ng deniedhim on the goalline! Incredible.

20mins gone and over all not a great start by Cardiff

It was all Stoke and they are creating the chances

In the 27th min Stoke lost Fletcher when he clashed heads with Ciaron Brown, Fletcher off, Sam Vokes on.

Awful half by Cardiff, one of the worst under Big Mick, very lucky we were still drawing

H-T 0-0

Big Mick must of had a real go at them as the first 15mins Cardiff attacked and attacked but the final 3rd was their let down.

But Cardiff's shooting was awful.

75th min Jonny Williams on, Sheyi Ojo off.

Kieffer Moore had a few chances, but wasted them badly tonight.

84th min Bacuna off, Wilson on.

Last 5mins Cardiff really came alive and could of pinched it, but once again bad finishing.

With a min to go stoke hit the cross bar.

For me the subs came way to late and seemed a negative approach from Mccarthy from the start and I see tonight as 2 points lost when we should be going at these teams

Not a good result.

Moore had enough chances to win it for us, but he has a bit of an off-night. Think we can forgive him, given how we'll he's done this season.

Not a good game at all and it would have been typical if we'd lost it at the end.

Need to put this one behind us and focus for Swansea on Saturday.

Not a good few days for us.

Personally I hate to say it guys but Moore most prob cost us 2 points tonight gutted with boro winning and Bournemouth winning its not too good for play offs fingers crossed their still can be a twist as there always is

What's happened to our high pressing game? It was made for playing against this team... never really looked like winning but had 3 gilt edged chances but like our play in general the finishing was extremely poor.

Beat the jacks and we might just be in the mix, but lets be honest the dream is fading fast at this minute. They looked tired again tonight and probably the most individual errors I've seen since MM took over.

Positives are Sang looks very comfortable at this level and PG could be the best signing we've made in years, really is a gem of a player another superb performance especially considering he was playing on the opposite side of the pitch to what he is used to.

It ain't over but the fat bird in the cowboy hat is deffo starting her warm-up I reckon.

Still keeping hope until its impossible...

Moore had his worst game of the season tonight. He had two great positions and failed to hit the target. The front three also made poor decisions all night and some of the passing was aimless in to areas. Play offs were always a bit of a dream. There is only one game now of importance and that's the jacks. They are currently losing 2 v 0 and have been lucky in recent weeks. I dont care about the play offs we just have to get a result there.

Re: MY VIEW: CARDIFF WERE VERY POOR TONIGHT & SO WERE STOKE

Moore is not fit. MM seems to play him when clearly it is not working. Very disappointed our playoff chance has gone.

Piss poor from MM,,,,,,,Defensive bollox without any cutting edge.

Am I the only one who doesn't rate Ojo, Bacuna poor we had little chance of going up so lets turn our attention to the jacks when Wilson and Murphy will be back and stop their charge. On the positives I thought Sang and Brown did ok

I think we have run out steam, as the last three games have been terrible. The last playoff place might be a tough stretch, but we’ve have done well to climb up the league with only one loss on the way.

Sums the game up in one word "Dogshit" but thank god we didn't lose and nearly did at the end. Also lucky we didn't go in 2 nil down, still one defeat under mm so far :bluescarf:

Fortunately two teams 5/6 have same points so now we are 6 points off them and they both have winnable games tomorrow...... just as worrying is there are 2 teams above us as well so task got very difficult after tonight! Looking like needing 4 game winning streak starting on sat to get us in playoffs again.

When we have nothing play for it well worth giving Tom Sang a few games in central midfield, some of his passes were passes and not hit and hope stuff or a lob behind the full back

Two poor sides playing hoofball!I Is Mick playing for clean sheets? Five substitutes should have been put on at 60 minutes to try to win the game, draws are no good! Since Mick has had his new 2 year contract we have been crap!

Stoke have some top class championship players but an average team.must be very frustrating for their fans...our players looked burnt out ...well some of them..no rest for Moore and international break he will be playing again lol..I think get something againt the plonkers on Saturday and experiment then with different players getting a chance ..draw about right today but we need to be at full strength mentally and physically next game

I think you are 100% right.McCarthy is one of those old fashioned managers who regard it as a sacrosanct rule never make a subsistution before 70 minutes. It was obvious to most watching that we needed to make subsistutions Ojo and Bacuna were both poor and should have gone off earlier.

Not sure what is wrong with us maybe our good run was due to an extended new manager effect and we are reverting to type. Think any chance of the playoffs is realistically gone. Let's be honest on the evidence of the last few games we are not good enough anyway.

Honeymoon peroid over for McCarthy and his decisions are going to come under more scrutiny now. Jacks are doing us no favours at Bournemouh either.

Can it be a coincidence that since Bennetts injury the goals have dried up.

Since we've played 3-5-2 (3 at the back) under MM and Bennett and NG played as wingbacks we were averaging 2.5 goals a game. We had two very attacking wingbacks
Ng won us a penalty at Bournemouth and Bennett got a winner at Doncaster and also assists.

Since his injury we've only scored once in 3 games and that was an OG.

I know these youngsters are giving everything and I can't fault them. For me I would rather find a more attacking option.

No idea if it would work but I like the idea of Hoilett at RWB

Always been impressed with his defensive work as a winger.

Here we go

Re: MY VIEW: CARDIFF WERE VERY POOR TONIGHT & SO WERE STOKE

Tue Mar 16, 2021 9:26 pm

Also more importantly its the space they create for our other attacking players. Its a lot easier to defend when you know the opposition are only going to attack from one side of the pitch.

I can't think of a stand performance from any of our attacking players in the last 3 games. Again is that a coincidence

Maybe Murphy against Watford but I think that was more him creating opportunities off scraps then us putting together substantial attacks.

Why didn't McCarthy throw the kitchen sink at it at 60 mins...bacuna and ojo were inefective today... Moore just wasn't his usual self...we needed to win this game to keep in touch with the top 6...we have to perform much better than that to beat the jacks on Saturday
