" Next two games "

Sun Mar 14, 2021 3:47 am

Two more games before the international break.

We have Stoke at home on Tuesday and Swansea away next Saturday.

I think, to keep our top six hopes alive, we realistically need to pick up at least four points from these games.

Then, after the international break, we will have eight games to go. Only two of those eight would be against teams currently in the top half - Reading away and Brentford away.

Below are the fixtures that Reading, Barnsley, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough have before the international break.

Reading - Birmingham away and QPR at home

Barnsley - Wycombe away and Sheffield Wednesday at home

Bournemouth - Swansea at home (playing Southampton in the FA Cup next weekend)

Middlesbrough - Preston at home and Millwall away

And below is in the final eight games after the international break, how many of the current top 12 each of them have to play (Bournemouth will have nine matches left):

Reading - Five: Barnsley away, Watford away, Cardiff at home, Swansea at home, Norwich away

Barnsley - Three: Reading at home, Middlesbrough at home, Norwich at home

Bournemouth - Five: Middlesbrough at home, Norwich away, Millwall away, Brentford at home, Stoke at home

Middlesbrough - Three: Bournemouth away, Watford at home, Barnsley away

Glad we don't have to play Norwich again.

Personally I don't think Middlesbrough will make the top six. I think we will pick up more points than them for a start, and they would also need more teams to drop a lot of points.

As for the rest of us, we all have a few tough games to go and it may well go down to the wire.

Definitely not over for us yet but we go need to pick up results over the next week.

Barnsley - Wycombe away and Sheffield Wednesday at home
6 easy points for Barnsley, i would say anything can happen in football, but the teams above just keep on winning, being realistic, it looks like we will miss out on the playoffs, no matter we will give it a good go next season  :ayatollah:

Personally I think Reading are the team to catch. Fully expect Barnsley to pick up enough points to be in the play offs.

If we can keep picking up points and manage to win at the Madejski then it's possible.

In reality, without being negative I think this season is just beyond us. We needed to change manager about half a dozen games earlier.

Next season will be interesting. It'll all be about who we get in, and how much support the board give Mick.

I see Cardiff City being feast or famine next year. Either will be challenging play off, or we'll implode from years of being the almost team.

Minimum of 4 points needed from these two games if we are going to stay in it. Even that might not be enough if teams above us pick up maximum points.

I think if we pick up four points from the next two games we are going to find ourselves nine points behind Barnsley and quite possibly nine behind Reading too. With Reading having a horrible run in we are more likely to catch them than Barnsley but if we find ourselves nine points behind them it's going to be very tough.

I think McCarthy needs to change the midfield for the last twenty minutes we looked like a bunch of headless chickens chasing Watford players around same against Middlesborough and Huddersfield. Why did McCarthy sign Williams if he won't play him even when Ralls is having a mare.

Also worried about attacking options we only seem to have just one striker. Harris is probably never going to score enough goals and he does not seem to want to play Watters.Did think we were second best yeasterday but we probably deserved a draw that said we were poor against Middlesborough and Huddersfield. Possibly our good run of results was mainly due to an extended new manager effect and without Tomlin who can't seem to be arsed to get himself fit enough to play we lack a bit of class.

Yep, we need to worry about winning our games first and hope they drop points.

Surprised ralls played 90mins in both the last 2 games. Hasnt played particularly well and pack and vaulks had been playing well together before ralls return. We need a much better performance and result tomorrow.

We are so reliant on Moore as everything is hit long. Until we actually try play it through the middle a bit more we are going to be reliant on a Moore type centre forward to win headers/hold up the ball.
