Newcastle United

Glad they got that equaliser for Steve Bruce.

Was like watching a Championship game with a hint of Premier League thrown in.

Newcastle fans frustrate me though. What do they want? Being a 'big' Club doesn't give you a God given right to anything. They only need to look down the road to see that at Sunderland.

Poisonous club with poisonous fans is how I see them! Massively ungrateful for everything they have like a spoilt child.

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with striving for better but they are what they are?

Like lots of teams who think there's someone better to take over, I'm sure Mike Ashley would sell in a heartbeat if any of them were genuine and sensibly-minded offers

I'd like to see Fulham stay up.Some of the clubs at the bottom are there season after season.

Me too, not a massive fan of Fulham but I like what Parker has done there

All the offers cant be bad? Ashley got a reputation for moving goal posts just as deal is ready to be completed!

They did have a deal lined up with Saudi buyers (I think), but the Premier League didn't let it go ahead.

Exactly mate

We will never know but a lot of these offers are ten a penny or built on fresh air.

I reckon if there was a genuine offer in the best interests of the Club Ashley would sell straight away but not to his detriment, the same as Tan with us, and you cant blame them for that

Agree with the OP.

Watched their game tonight and it wasn't one for the purists. Neither team looked like scoring a goal until the late goals, although both sides played well up until they got to the penalty box.

I also have a lot of time for Steve Bruce. With a squad that is not very talented, he has done the best he could. I know he used to manage Sunderland, but I don't think he's treated fairly by Newcastle supporters.

Always enjoy our away trips to Newcastle. Genuinely decent people up there and you can always have a reasonable chat with their supporters before and after a game. That makes up for being up in the heavens in the stadium and feel like your watching ants play football.

But the Newcastle fans do need to get real. They last had a good period of relative success quite a few years ago. This was when they had the likes of Alan Shearer playing for them which tells you how long ago it was.

Anyone who has ever been to Newcastle will know how much the football club means to that city and the whole community, so I can sort of understand why they believe they should be fighting at the top end of the league.

But, equally, this is a club which hadn't won a major trophy since 1955.

They do need new ownership, clearly. But they have to be very careful who they sell to.

They've already learned from Ashley that bringing in a new owner that appears wealthy is not always someone like the owners at Manchester City or Leicester. If these Saudi owners had completed their takeover, it probably would have taken that club in a totally different direction - and not for the better.

They think they have a right to be in the top right at least for some reason.

They are a big club in terms of size of the stadium and the club. But in terms of recent success, they are miles behind a lot of teams.

I think recent success is the real judge of how big a club is. Going by that, Newcastle are behind Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester etc.

They just need to get used to the idea that at this point, they are a club that will be battling relegation for the next few years at least. Even when they do get a new owner, they will need several years of rebuilding - providing they get the right owner.

a billionaire pumping dosh into leicester doesnt make them a bigger club than Newcastle any more than Jack Walker buying Blackburn a title made them bigger...

As I said in my post, it depends how you judge which clubs are bigger.

Size of the stadium etc or recent major trophies.

Leicester have won the league, played in the Champions League knockout stages and fought at the top of the table over the last few years.

Newcastle haven't won a major trophy since the 50s.

A lot of fans are similar.

I mean, we had a fan saying if Mick took us up he shouldn’t stay as we would need a younger manager. It was the same with Warnock.

Some always want more.

I always remember Charlton and Stoke who wanted shot of Curbishley and Pulis respectively as they had taken them as far as they could. Or maybe they were keeping them in a spot they didn’t deserve to be. West Ham are the same with numerous managers.

Newcastle are a club where it helps not playing in front of their fans. It’s probably helped West Ham this year too.

TBH mate if we had been getting the long term support of either WHU or Newcastle think we would be very frustrated too....
