' A solid defence '
By Glen Williams
Cardiff City have also managed to stop conceding as many goals as they did at the beginning of the campaign, which is likely thanks to the shift in style but also due to the renewed confidence of the back line.
The side’s clean-sheet percentage has jumped from 25 percent to 45 percent, highlighting the improvement in both the attacking and defensive departments.
City's high and relentless press has also been a hallmark of McCarthy's tenure so far and they are defending far better from the front than they were at the beginning of the season.
But it is, of course, largely thanks to those three giant centre backs and, in fairness, the two sitting midfielders in front of them, who have helped to dry up the oppositions' goals.
Teams are now finding it more difficult to score against City, having conceded an average of one goal per game under McCarthy, compared to 1.17 per game over a much longer run. under Harris.

it's 7 goals in 11 games we have conceded. That's an average of 0.63 per game.

The season prior to our last promotion, the defence seemed to gel really well, which ran over into the following season. If we miss out on the playoffs this time around, it only bodes well for next season and could provide a solid platform to mount a promotion challenge. Hopefully we can keep Moore to spearhead the front line, and adequately replace the loanee players (or keep) dependant on what division we are in.
