' Bluebirds eye free agent '

Sheffield Wednesday's Adam Reach will be a free agent in the summer.

Obviously this is a rumour so more than likely not going to happen!

However, I do feel a few of the Sheffield Wednesday squad may get picked off should they get relegated.

Cardiff City and Watford are leading the chase to sign Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Adam Reach, on a free transfer this summer, Football League World understand.

Reach is fast approaching the end of his contract at Hillsborough, with the former Middlesbrough man set to become a free agent in the summer of 2021.

A source has told Football League World that Cardiff and Watford are monitoring the situation surrounding Reach at this moment in time, with a view to pressing ahead and signing him up from 2021/22.

I think a few clubs will be interested in reach myself, he is a decent player.

Good player but I'm thinking we're actually ok in that department. Another 6'3' plus striker maybe :bluescarf:

Cardiff City set to clash with Watford in summer bid for Sheffield Wednesday's Adam Reach

The Bluebirds are reportedly linining up a summer move for the 28-year-old, but may face competition from Watford

Cardiff City are reportedly keen on Sheffield Wednesday winger Adam Reach.

According to Football League World, the Bluebirds and Watford are both monitoring the 28-year-old, whose contract at struggling Sheffield Wednesday is set to expire this

Both Cardiff and Watford will have ambitions of plying their trade in the Premier League next season, with boss Mick McCarthy inspiring a play-off tilt for the Bluebirds, while Watford are still firmly in the mix for automatic promotion.

It's not clear whether promotion would have any effect on any potential move, but a departure from Hillsborough would surely be considered likely if Wednesday lose their bid to preserve their Championship status.

As well as his free price tag, Reach's versatility will certainly be appealling for any potential suitors.

The former Middlesbrough man can play in midfield, out wide or at full-back.

Crucially, he's also well suited to a wing-back role, meaning he could potentially slot into McCarthy's favoured system at Cardiff City Stadium.

Indeed, the Yorkshireman is already looking a little short of options, particularly on the left, with Joe Bennett and Joel Bagan both facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

On the right, Perry Ng has also suffered a knock, and McCarthy may well feel that deepening his options on both flanks could be something of a transfer priority this summer.

So far, Reach has made 219 appearances for the Owls, netting 22 goals.
