Sheffield Wednesday sent Flint back, now regret it /BUT

BUT NEIL HARRIS SAID DIFFERENT AT THE TIME.
Funny everyone knew Sheffield Wednesday sent Aden Flint back due to his injury, but Neil Harris stated he called for Flint back
because he wanted to play Flint, yet Flint was injured.
Another of Neil Harries many lies.

Aden Flint has proven doubters wrong :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Aden Flint has exposed Sheffield Wednesday's latest oversight among a catalogue of errors

The towering centre-half, who only made a handful of appearances for the Owls in the first half of the season before returning to Cardiff City, has starred in the Bluebirds revival

The Owls have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 outings.

How the Owls regret sending Flint back, Flint has shined under Mick McCarthy.

Much of the narrative surrounding Sheffield Wednesday's troubled season has centred on their lack of firepower in the final third.

Given only bottom-of-the-table Wycombe Wanderers (23) have scored fewer goals than the Owls, it is understandable why their struggles in front of goal has dominated the agenda.

But if Wednesday are to haul themselves out of the Championship relegation zone, they must urgently tighten up defensively.

The Owls have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 outings.

Injuries have not helped matters. The back four and back five has constantly chopped and changed. Few partnerships have been formed across the team.

But that is no excuse for some of the soft goals Wednesday have shipped in

Poor old Joe Wildsmith has picked the ball out of the net 11 times in his last four starts since replacing Keiren Westwood in goal. Defensively the Owls have gone backwards.

It must be galling for Wednesdayites to see Aden Flint playing a key part in Cardiff City's renaissance. The towering centre-half was farmed out on loan to the Owls, having fallen out of favour under Neil Harris.

Flint made four appearances for Wednesday before suffering a serious hamstring injury away to Rotherham United at the end of October. The knock required surgery.

Wednesday decided to terminate Flint's loan deal in early January.

There were signs that the Owls were starting to get their act together under caretaker manager Neil Thompson so there was no huge outpouring of anger or disappointment at Flint's departure.

But the 31-year-old has been a revelation since returning to his parent club. Eyebrows were raised over Mick McCarthy's call to bring Flint in from the cold following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Yet Flint has established himself as a linchpin at the heart of the Bluebirds rearguard.

Flint has been nothing short of excellent under Mick McCarthy.

"He occupies the middle of this back three with great stature and presence."

It is fair to say Flint has been given a new lease of life since McCarthy's arrival. He has featured prominently in the Bluebirds promotion push, helping the Welsh club to seven wins and four draws in his 11 starts.

It was crystal clear from Flint's short time in South Yorkshire that he is a big voice on the pitch. A real leader of men.

Though Flint lacks pace, he is strong in the air and a good organiser at the back.

This Wednesday team is crying out right now for someone with Flint's experience and leadership qualities. He could have provided them with greater solidity and know-how in the heat of the battle.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the Owls' decision to let Flint gets worse with every passing match and is the latest oversight among a catalogue of errors.

He's been brilliant since he came back into the team.

Before he came back, I said I didn't want to see him play for us ever again.

Happy to be proved wrong.
