" Relegation "

Should we be in the Championship next season, which is probably more likely than not at the moment, who would you prefer to be relegated from the Premier League?

I think it's safe to say that Sheffield United and West Brom are going down. Chris Wilder has already admitted that they are looking ahead to next season and Sam Allardyce also seems resigned to the fact his team are going down after this weekend's results.

It looks like it'll be between Fulham, Newcastle, Brighton and Burnley for the final relegation place.

I don't think it will be Burnley. I think that Sean Dyche will be able to get enough points out of his team to survive.

That would leave the three.

Fulham - they have a good chance of keeping their squad together, other than loan players. There won't be much interest or value in many of their players. Would probably be in a good position to get automatic promotion if they went down

Newcastle - they have enough money to keep their squad, even if they go down. They might lose a couple, but the vast majority would stay. It's what they've done the last two times they've been relegated and both times they got promoted relatively comfortably

Brighton - they play really good football and have won a lot of plaudits, but they just done score goals. Quite a few of their players would probably attract interest from elsewhere and they may struggle to keep hold of them

In summary, my preference would be for Brighton to be relegated. I'm basing this purely on the fact that they would likely lose a lot of first team players and would have a big rebuilding job to do.

As for the other two.

Sheffield United will probably keep both their manager and most of their players. They'll probably be a strong team in the Championship next season, especially as they've had a while to come to terms with relegation.

West Brom will also keep most of their players. The vast majority are the players that got them promoted and they also have relegation wage drop clauses in their contacts according to their manager. I think if they can afford to keep Sam Allardyce then they'll be fighting at the top end of the league again.

Especially when we are doing well! It doesn't matter what team is in it it's still arguably the most competitive league in the world. :old:

Fulham and West Brom are nice short trips. Always good away days

Decent pubs near the Cottage.

I don't care who comes down as we will be replacing them in the Prem.

If we do fail, BIG IF, then we will smash all comets next season under Mick and TC

Fulham for me great pubs either side of the river and only 2 hours on the train.
Ideally I'd like Chelsea to be relegated but can't see it happening.

We need to seize the opportunity to get promotion this year. We thought after the playoff defeat we would be in the top 2 this season, with Harris . No guarantee we will be top 2 or in the playoffs next season or that are top players will not be sold.

Forget Burnley
Its down to Newcastle, Brighton, Fulham and West Brom
Personally i think that both Sheffield Utd and West Brom are gone and its a toss up between Brighton and Fulham. I think i would prefer Brighton. Yes Fulham is a great team in the Championship and so was Brighton and Newcastle but the weakest team is Brighton.

So in short
Brighton
West Brom
Sheffield United
Will Get Relegated

If we "smash all comets" next year does it means we will be playing out of this world ?!

As it is every year, Allan... ;)

Of those, I honestly believe that any, including a surprisingly poor Sheffield United team, will simply make the Championship stronger and put up a good fight for a swift return

The 'problem' could be when/if at least one of the relegated teams unexpectedly ill-prepares for the Championship's physically harder than the Premier League style; and also that we don't have referees who can make 50/50 decisions that can be overturned by VAR depending on who you are and who is operating on any given day (I still reckon we could have still been in the Premier League had it not even for THAT Chelsea goal fiasco  )

Like others above, I doubt highly it will be Burnley; but it is pretty much set that Sheffield United are going down possibly at the same time as their neighbours Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship (which would be a shame for that city, really) as are West Bromwich Albion (always a good trip and in fairly easy commute)

Of the others, it can go any way right now but I am thinking Brighton are on a horrid goal-famine run, despite actually playing quite well in most games

Fulham are also shy on goals but they are picking up positive (for them) results of late and the win against Liverpool the other day can only have made them a lot more 'confident' than before

Newcastle United are the odd one for me; capable of at least a mid-table finish with their squad. and to be fair manager, but massively underachieving (mainly according to their own highly insulated supporters) whilst the Mike Ashley Show continues

Can go either way, but for me the bottom three is likely to be...

16: Newcastle Untied (will turn up for at least a game or two when the chips are really down)
17: Fulham (only because it always seems, as with Villa, one team defies the odds when you don't want it)
-------------------------
18: Brighton &HA (don't mind Harry Potter but not scoring goals is a sure recipe for relegation at this point)
19: West Bromwich Albion (seemingly just not good enough)
20: Sheffield United (massively surprising after Season 1; but we've seen it happen before)
