" Positives "

Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:59 pm

Not many positives to take tonight but still important to point them out, as I expect the negatives will be focused on.

We didn't play well but we didn't lose. A point gained after that.

It's another clean sheet. The back three did well again (other than Nelson giving away the penalty). I thought Aden Flint was very good again and my MOTM.

Despite not playing well, Phillips only had two big saves to make.

Eleven games unbeaten under Mick.

We knew we were never going to play well in every game, so it's good to come out of a bad performance like that with a point.

I agree and we’ve got a week without a game now. Hope a few injured lads are back - read somewhere that the Ex Arsenal lad is back training too.
I had Sang as MoM but most players were around 6 out of ten when they’ve been 7-8 of late. Thought Murphy had his worst game under MM ad did Ojo. Hope they come back fighting

To see the words terrible and poor written about tonight angers me. It wasn't great tonight but we've seen a lot worse and the team have ground out a useful point. Injuries, tiredness and being away from home we've got a point. Some fans seems to think if we dont hammer a team every week 4 nil we are terrible! Sang and Brown were big positives tonight as both had decent games. We are in the mix for the play offs still which is the biggest and most unexpected positive. A weeks rest now for the team. They need it.

The positives are we are slightly disappointed with another away draw.

We look tight at the back and didn't knick one, so its 0-0 and a point.

It was a poor performance but I wouldn't say it was awful or anything like that. I think this was probably the perfect game at the perfect time.
The last few games have been non stop pressing and sprinting with a very unchanged lineup, no doubt the players are feeling it catching up to them. Huddersfield were a poor enough team that even though we didn't play too well and didn't press with the usual ferocity that they didn't punish us and I think a clean sheet and a point away from home is always a good thing regardless of the opposition.
We also have an extra day's rest and recovery which certainly can't be complained about.

11 games unbeaten, let's make it 12 :ayatollah:

Point gained not two lost.
11 unbeaten
Clean sheet
If the play off final goes to pens and we are in it we will probably win it.
Its Friday
The vaccine is working
Wales beat Ingerland
Can't think of anymore

Sang was a massive positive. Didn’t miss Ng lots.

Great post Worcester.

You are never going to play well in every game but there is no point in skirting around the performance. It was very poor. We were OK in defence but looked completely disjointed going forward. So many balls aimlessly smashed out of defence. We were extremely lucky they missed that pen and Campbell didn't score his chance. Otherwise there's no defending that performance. But they didn't score, so its a point gained. Definitely one to forget. 8 days until the next game. Time to regroup, recover and move onto the next game.

Sitting in my nice warm house with a beer rather than facing a four hour plus trip back on a coach after watching that drivel.

Amazingly similar to the performance against Boro - we couldn't string two passes together all night.

Having said that we are still very much in the mix and who would have said that would have been possible at the start of last month?

Hope the players have a bloody good rest over the next eight days and come back all guns blazing a week tomorrow!

Absolutely dreadful performance one of our worst this season

But we got an undeserved point which is a major plus point

A rest is needed then one last push for the play offs

I fancy us to sneak that last play off place then who knows??

I still think we will sneak 5th place  and if we don't, we go again next year, but for now let's just enjoy the ride :ayatollah:
Performance for me was disjointed, thought Murphy looked lacklustre (again!) ,ojo was not at it at all, and others were like strangers at times, I've said it before MM came in, our pass success rate is always below 50%, and yes I know you can score from one/two passes, but we really need to practice passing to a team mate more

On a positive 11 unbeaten, another clean sheet away from home, sang & brown looked decent additions, we now have time for MM & TC to work with them for a clear week, they will have time to recouperate &rest. (Hope bagan is fine).

Let's enjoy the roller coaster that is Cardiff City FC. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

dont need to practice...just change tactics.... dont play like Cardiff , play like Derby... lots of pointless square and backwards passes to get the percentage up...

So they were great at passing?? They havent been much above 50% success rate all season, whether thats backwards or forwards!! So even going forward we gave a 50% chance of the ball getting to the right player.its poor either way!

did not say they were great..... just pointed out that multiple safe passes amongst the keeper and back 4 pushes your pass completion up.... if you watched the derby game they passed lots had loads of possession but did not trouble us because the passes were all low risk often 70/80- yards from our goal ....if your playing more direct with less possession the passes you play must also contain more risk and be more difficult....a pass is not a pass ..there are levels of difficulty... along with possession pointless stats..

Agreed that the more direct we are the more risky and difficult it is achieve passing accuracy but this is exactly what we should be working on. If we can manage that, not many sides in the division will be able to live with us. We already have the pace and power but may need to wait till next season to add that final ingredient.

It was really noticeable that the first 10 mins against Bournemouth and Derby were high energy, high press. Against Middleborough and Huddersfield we didn’t. I assume it is obviously a tactical thing but it does set the tone fir the rest of the game and so far the end result.
I am not criticising, just an observation.
I am happy to be having an exciting end to the season which is incredible compared to 4 weeks ago!
