The forward has completed 90 minutes just once for the Terriers since rejoining them last summer – and funnily enough that outing was at the home of his former club Cardiff City.

Corberan hopes to have him back in training after the return fixture against Cardiff on Friday, but Ward has suffered nothing but repeated setbacks this season with his return dates seemingly always ending up getting bumped back a few days or weeks every time he’s about to make his comeback. You feel like the upcoming international break could do him a lot of good.

He was probably one of our more dangerous players off the bench last season, had we negotiated a cheaper contract that reflected his status as an off the bench impact player I would've happily kept him. 7 goals in 920 minutes of football last season is a decent record for a substitute.
