"Credit to them for the efforts they've put in so far and the results they've earned. They're enjoying it and deservedly so. I'm very much looking forward to the future.

"TC (Terry Connor) and I have enjoyed every minute of the time we've had at this great club so far and we're delighted to be staying.”

JOE BENNETT out for 6 months injured.

LEE TOMLIN still not fit.

Tomlin missed U23’S this week, said he has been ill all week.

So far Tomlin has played one 45mins & 60 mins for the U23’s and looks well off match fitness.

In over 3 years just 50 odd appearances for Cardiff City.

MICK McCARTHY:

"Everybody wants to play, things are good," McCarthy said. "Long may that continue. But we've won nowt yet, that's for sure."

"Just enjoy it!" he said. "If you lose it's all doom and gloom and sack the manager, now we're flying, we're in the play-offs and getting promoted.

"You won't get me carried away with it. It's a lovely time when you're winning football matches, but you've got to win the next one."

“We play again on Friday, and we’re being judged every two or three days now. It’s a lovely time when you’re winning football matches, but you’ve got to win the next match. The Derby match is done, the points are in our pocket, and now we’ve got to win the next one.”

"There's no point getting carried away, head in the clouds, everybody gives you a pat on the back and suddenly there's a knife in their hand.

"I don't get carried away by that stuff. Nothing nastily, just the way it is.

"Not a chance in this world I'll be getting carried away. There are a lot of good teams in this league. We'll just keep pecking away."

"The lads have been preparing for Friday’s trip to Huddersfield Town.

"They had some kip Tuesday night! They were in on Wednesday for a lot of TLC: massages, ice and rubs. It’s a physically difficult time for them all, and they have to recover really quickly."

"Everybody is happy and things are good, so long may that continue."

MICK McCARTHY:

"Bacuna has got skill, ability, power, pace, he's very technical, he's got a great touch, he can wander around and pick the ball up, he'll run in behind for you."

"He is a really good, technical footballer and his goals have shown that."

"It's great for him. Whenever he has come on he has done really well. The first game I picked him at Barnsley, but it wasn't a game for him, that.

"The other lads have come in and done well, but he has always contributed when he has come on and that's been brilliant."

MICK McCARTHY:

Cardiff have now confirmed the worst news that they feared for Bennett.

"Scans today have shown that @JoeBennett27 sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee during City’s match with @dcfcofficial on Tuesday night. He will now be referred to a specialist. We're all with you, Joe!"

"He's not good," McCarthy said of Bennett. "I'm not a doctor or a surgeon but it looks bad."

"He's not in good shape anyway. It's his knee. Exceptionally tough for him, you could tell it wasn't right."

"You could tell, he didn't move. When someone goes down and doesn't move you know he's hurt and it's a real sore one."

The injury rules Bennett out of the Bluebirds' Championship season run-in, and with the 30-year-old out of contract in the Welsh capital this summer, the future remains uncertain for the full-back.

Bennett's misfortune presents youngster Joel Bagan with an opportunity between now and the end of the campaign, and McCarthy backed him to do a job for the Bluebirds.

MICK McCARTHY:

"I've got absolutely zero worries about Joel Bagan," the manager said last night.

"He's very unfortunate that he's got such a good player and experienced player in front of him. Joe's vastly experienced and a good player.

"But Joel has got big things ahead of him and is terrific."

Joe Bennett:

“Thanks for all the messages I can’t wait to get going!! Really going to give it my all and i know il be back better and stronger :bluebird: :bluebird: will keep you updated “

Carlos Corberan on Mick McCarthy's 1000th game as a manager:

"Congratulations for that number of games.

"That is a reference for all of us. It shows he is doing something right!"

"Football doesn't have an old or new-school. New coaches learn from other coaches, and it depends about where you are grown and what you watch.

"Nowadays football is more about passing from the goalkeeper, for instance.”

"But you need to deal with any type of circumstance."

MICK McCARTHY:

"Lee Tomlin is still not fit enough yet, no where near to put the effort I require, he is not there yet, I expect 90 minutes of 110%, Lee is a long way off that yet."

Tomlin missed this weeks U23’S game v Charlton, but played last Thursday for 60 mins in the U23’S for Cardiff City U23’S and 45 mins the week before.

This Tuesday Tomlin tweeted:

Lee Tomlin:

"Been ill for a week, not just for 23s but for tonight’s first-team game as well,"

'Just enjoy it!'

Mick McCarthy delivers stirring message to Cardiff City fans amid stunning play-off run

The Bluebirds have climbed from lower-table obscurity to have a chance at an unlikely play-off run at the end of the season

Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy insists he is not getting carried away with the thought of reaching the play-offs, but has urged supporters to enjoy the ride.

McCarthy has architected the unlikeliest surge to the top six in recent memory, catapulting the Bluebirds from 17th place right into the play-off picture within the space of just 10 games.

It has been an epic journey for Cardiff fans over the last six weeks, no more than they deserved after the hugely disappointing first half of the season, and some are now daring to dream.

The rip-roaring display against Derby County, which resulted in a resounding 4-0 win on Tuesday night, is just the latest performance to prompt the rest of the Championship to sit up and take notice of the Bluebirds.

But, typically, McCarthy is keeping himself and his squad grounded.

MICK McCARTHY:

'Just enjoy it!'

"Everybody wants to play, things are good," McCarthy said. "Long may that continue. But we've won nowt yet, that's for sure."

McCarthy has towed the party line of downplaying his side's chances. But fans, and rival clubs, are really beginning to view City as potential play-off candidates.

Because, with just 12 games to go, there is no denying that City are right in the mix.

Although wins for Bournemouth and Barnsley on Wednesday night just nudged the Welsh capital city club out of the top six momentarily, they have a chance to crowbar their way back in once again on Friday night with a win over Huddersfield.

Cardiff have won seven of their last eight games, and are unbeaten in their last 10 since McCarthy took over, and are arguably the form team in the division.

So, while he might not be getting carried away, what is his message to the supporters?

"Just enjoy it!" he said. "If you lose it's all doom and gloom and sack the manager, now we're flying, we're in the play-offs and getting promoted.

"You won't get me carried away with it. It's a lovely time when you're winning football matches, but you've got to win the next one."
