Big Mick attended today’s Cardiff City’s U23’s 5-4 defeat to league 1 Charlton’s U23’s.

To watch of course any players who he could put in to the first team squad

In particular Max Watters, Ciaron Brown and watch the fitness of Lee Tomlin.

Big Mick had already stated Tomlin was far from ready yet to give him 110%.

Lee Tomlin phoned in sick and was unable to attend/play.

Tomlin last played for the first team five months ago.

So far Tomlin has played two 45mins for the U23’s and looks well of match fitness.

Max Watters had a very poor first half today, but then was a different player in the 2nd half scoring 2 goals and nearly had 3.


Ciaron Brown never really shone.



Kieron Evans, Roland Idowu and Sam Bowen all impressed

£25,000 a week, only ever played well when it was to get a new contract, cost us half a million now doing nothing since October, get rid this summer, a luxury we can not afford, bye bye Tomlin

Agree with the post, it's time we let him go.

With his wages, he is a luxury player and not worth it.

Injured too much and now his recovery has been set back even further due to the fact he was ill today.

Not another Under 23s game until next week, so that's one week longer that his recovery will take.

I'm still of the opinion that he wouldn't start a game for Mick anyway this season, because he's not that type of player.

He would also want to play in Wilson's position. I've criticised Wilson at times this season, but he offers more in the team than Tomlin due to his defensive qualities.


Tomlin needs to leave. Problem is I don't see another team paying his wages, and he still has another year left on his contract after this season.

Sick of his name now his fitness is bad for a player on that kind of salary

That’s what I thought, Hmmm??

Thinks he's better than he his , has no real pace , Mick want tolerate or be fooled by his half fit cameo performances, before we had Wilson , Moore, Ojo he was the only one who could turn on a bit of magic and he played on that , and weak Harris just kept using his book of excuses to explain his absence and poor rehabilitation from the treatment table, man is an arse .

50 appearances in over three years, time to clear him out and do a deal and replace him

Brilliant on his day, but those days are getting less and less every year

He was excellent when he came back last season but that was in a team that was really lacking in quality so he stood out.

I have a lot of sympathy for him in terms of the injuries but not in terms of how far off fitness he always seems to be after a break. Most players who are out for long periods make sure that they keep the weight off and maintain their core fitness but not Tomlin.

We didn't worry about Sol's weight after his ACL, we didn't worry about Keifer Moore's general fitness after his injury and even Ralls was ready for selection within 2 weeks of being back training.

There may be something more to this absence than we know (possibly personal) but on the face of it it's massive drain on the finances and squad.

As has been said previously, I can't see him fitting into this shape team at the moment anyway but he would certainly be a handy substitute if we were chasing a tight game at the end of this season.
